Revolutionizing Healthcare Quality Programs Using “Food as Engagement”
Myself and the FarmboxRx team are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Brian Thompson, CEO of United Healthcare. His visionary leadership and dedication to advancing healthcare have left an indelible mark on the industry. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Stay strong UHC team.
PatientPoint and the PatientPoint Foundation are using their super powers to change health trajectories for the better. When leadership is all in, everyone wins.

Major changes are ahead at PatientPoint!
As we thank Mike Collette for his incredible leadership and dedication, we’re excited to announce that our current President, Sean Slovenski, will be stepping in as CEO! With Sean at the helm, we look forward to the exciting new chapter ahead as we continue to innovate and empower better health. https://bit.ly/3ZJX5AY
Very few founders are equipped to take their company from ideation to exit, especially if the company makes it to full blown commercial launch. Even less are capable of taking the organization public, and scaling it appropriately. In truth, the same is true of any C-Suite role in a Med Tech start-up.
Think about this....how many Founders have we seen do in Med Tech what Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg were able to do in Tech? While I am sure there are other examples, Reinhold Schmieding of Arthrex is the only one that comes to mind. The point is, it's beyond rare.
In an early stage start up, one of the surest signs of success is when the company outgrows the Founder and the initial leadership team. This is not a negative thing. It means the team did what they set out to do, build a burgeoning company. At some point, the time usually comes to hand over the reigns to someone more well equipped to take the company to new heights.
With so much at stake:
Why does this happen so often with little to no planning?
Why is a successor seldom identified long before the transition takes place?
Why do BOD's, typically dominated at that point by career financiers/venture capital types, so often vote against the wishes of the outgoing CEO, and appoint a successor of their choosing?
Why are world renowned CEO/Executive Coaches (such as the Bernie Haffey) seldom retained to ensure a smooth transition for the outgoing CEO, a fast start for the incoming CEO, and to assist the executive team members in processing the transition?
Will you be at DeviceTalks Boston?
If so, this will be a can't miss session around an all too seldom planned for event, CEO succession. And Senior Partner at The Mullings Group, Holly Scott is the perfect person to carry the dialogue.
One of the best parts about working for Health Advances in addition to working with great people (see below) on the industry's toughest issues is getting to live our founders' (Mark SpeersPaula Ness Speers) values. Yesterday we got together on Founders Day to give back and volunteer at Cradles to Crayons - an organization that supports at-risk youth with school supplies and fights clothing insecurity.
Coinciding with #WomensHealthWednesday - we know that young moms and children in the US are disproportionately low income. Did you know that 42% of all US births are financed by Medicaid? These moms tend to be younger than privately insured moms, they have higher rates of mortality, and babies born to moms on Medicaid have higher rates of low birthweight. https://lnkd.in/gGCgUD-v
Helping support low-income children is inherently supporting #womenshealth. #healthequity

Two nights ago, something magical happened.
Earlier in my career, I was a ScaleHealth member by day and a Sidebench product advisor by mid-day (ask me later what I was at night). I got to witness first-hand how hard Taylor McPartland, Johnny Lam, and team put in behind the scenes in its infacy to build Scale and also fully immersed myself into what Kevin Yamazaki and Christopher Brereton were scaling. Fast forward to years later and two nights ago, they're all grown up. ScaleHealth has their own PAVILION and Sidebench threw one of the biggest welcome parties at #vive24! And that extra magic? Seeing old friends, making new connections, and playing the game of "how many mutual connections do we have" with too many people to count (s/o to ScaleHealth Board Member Kelly Chu for a fun rabbit hole).
Conference/party-goers got the first sneak peek at Rootine's newest Stress support drink mix. Mocktails were made, stress was relieved, and the good times kept rolling! We're bringing science-backed to CPG, and it was obvious that night how much of an impact we can make.
Rootine has already prided itself in its scientific roots, and it was great to be part of the night where so many influential decision makers in healthcare and digital health executives at the largest insurers, hospitals, and universities get together to connect and innovate together.
Special s/o to Christopher Brereton, Sidebench, Techstars Healthcare Accelerator, BioscienceLA, and others for letting Rootine sponsor alongside Mercury, UBS, and others.

For me, this year’s #AVMA2024 conference is more than a meeting of great veterinary minds discussing the latest trends; it's an opportunity to bring industry leaders together with a shared goal of solving workforce challenges facing #veterinaryhealth teams (VHTs). I am excited to be here early in Austin this week to advance this crucial initiative at our pre-conference workshop.
I look forward to engaging with some of the industry’s top leaders on how we can co-create and advance actionable solutions that will set VHTs up for success as the industry evolves. These teams are crucial to ensuring #animalhealth and delivering a positive experience for their owners, but they are under immense pressure to perform.
The priorities we’ve heard across the profession are loud and clear: well-being support, job flexibility, teamwork, culture, and the integration of technology and modern medical practices. These are not just nice-to-haves—they are essential to keeping people in our profession.
Focusing on the human side of the equation, we’ll help enable a culture that resonates with everyone, from technicians to practice owners, equipping them with resources like toolkits that boost practice efficiency and morale.
Let's make this year’s AVMA conference a turning point for our industry, where we commit to advancing the needs and priorities of those who are its backbone. I look forward to sharing the results of our meeting soon!

CommonHealth ACTION’s work with #healthcare systems and leaders is creating #perspectivetransformation for hospital leaders and the healthcare workforce. This is the intersection of healthcare and public health. It is difficult work that must be driven and owned by brave #leaders. Comprehensive investments to institutionalize #equity and and #equitylens analysis yield meaningful changes to policies and practices. That’s what makes #healthequity a reality with healthcare being a key player. When you work with CommonHealth ACTION we combine assessment; training; executive, peer, and team coaching; strategy; facilitated discussions on identity and power; planning; implementation; and measurement. While it may sound standard (common sense for many), it isn’t solely about WHAT we do. It is more about HOW we do it. As we continue to learn, our success grows. That is only possible due to organizations willing to commit time, capacity, and political capital. #maternalandchildhealth#MCH#publichealth
