For seven years, Luby's waitress Melina Salazar greeted her most loyal and grumpy customer, Walter "Buck" Swords, with a smile while tending to his every need. The 89-year-old World War II veteran was infamous for complaining about his food and service, often displaying a rather sour demeanor. Despite this, Melina remained unfazed, consistently serving him with kindness and a cheerful attitude. Her unwavering positivity eventually brought out a smile from Walter in return. However, one day, he stopped coming to the restaurant. After checking the obituaries, Melina learned of his passing. A week later, she received a wonderful surprise: Walter had left her $50,000 and a car. #car #carinsuarance #automobileinsurance

My guess is that he kept coming back for seven years, perhaps not so much for the food, but more for Melina, her positivity, kindness, and perseverance too... GALATIANS 6:9... (A powerful encouragement to keep going.) "So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up." Galatians 6:9 is a beautiful reminder of perseverance, faith, and trust in God's perfect timing. Here's a breakdown and deeper look of what this verse can teach us: 1 "Let’s not get tired of doing what is good.": This is a call to steadfastness. Doing good often requires selflessness, patience, and endurance. It's easy to feel discouraged when the results of our efforts aren't immediately visible, but this verse reminds us that the act of doing good is inherently valuable, regardless of the outcome we see. Application: Ask yourself, what “good” has God placed on your heart to do today? Whether it's showing kindness, serving others, or sharing His love, the verse encourages us to persist, even when it feels unnoticed or difficult. 2 "At just the right time.": God's timing is perfect, though it often feels different from our own expectations. We may plant seeds of kindness, love, or service, and it might take days, months, or even years to see the fruits of those seeds. This verse calls us to trust that God is working behind the scenes, aligning everything for the right moment. Encouragement: Imagine a farmer planting crops. There’s no immediate harvest—it takes watering, weeding, and trusting the process. Similarly, the “right time” for our harvest is determined by God, who knows what is best for us. 3 "We will reap a harvest of blessing.": This is a promise, not just a possibility. The blessings may come in different forms—spiritual growth, strengthened relationships, joy in God’s presence, or even eternal rewards. The assurance is that the good we do is never wasted. Reflection: What blessings have you seen from acts of faithfulness in the past? Reflecting on those moments can strengthen your resolve to continue doing good. 4 "If we don’t give up": This is the challenge—staying faithful when the road is hard. Giving up can be tempting when we feel unappreciated or exhausted, but this verse encourages us to persevere, knowing the harvest is coming.Practical Tip: Surround yourself with a community of believers who can encourage you. Sharing burdens and celebrating victories together can keep your faith strong (see Galatians 6:2). Doing good isn’t just about achieving results; it’s about remaining faithful to God’s call and trusting Him with the outcome. Whether the blessing comes in this life or the next, we can hold fast to His promise that no act of good is ever in vain. Please stay encouraged—your harvest is nearer than you might think! 🌱✨ ___ #Kind #Kindness #Positive #Positivity #Cheerful #Cheerfulness #Perseverance #Faith #Trust

Reportedly, in 2006, Bonneau du Martray was served at the private birthday party of the now late Queen Elizabeth II. And if you're worthy of a queen, you're forunate, right? Perhaps it was the royal touch that caught the attention of the real estate and sports mogul Stanley Kroenke, who took over ownership of Bonneau du Martray in 2017... Or maybe it was his sense of hardcore business. Kroenke is largely responsible for the success of Screaming Eagle - arguably Napa Valley's most famous wine. And now he has spotted profitable potential in Burgundy. 2017 Bonneau du Martray scores 96 points from Wine Advovate, and according to Liv-ex, the last ten vintages of Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne that have been on the market for at least five years have risen an average of 137.7% over the last five years, which equates to an average annual return of 19%. Read more about the investment potential here.

Witness the miraculous transformation from water to wine in the biblical story of the Miracle at Cana, performed by Jesus. See how this incredible event showcases Jesus' divine power and love for his followers. Imagine a wedding in Cana, the air thick with laughter and celebration, but suddenly, a hush falls over the crowd. The wine has run out. Panic sets in. Now, weddings are all about joy, and running out of wine? That’s a disaster! But then, in walks Jesus. He sees the worry etched on the faces of the hosts. With a simple command, He transforms ordinary water into the finest wine. This isn’t just a party trick; it’s a powerful message. It shows us that Jesus has authority over nature, that He can take our mundane, our ordinary, and turn it into something extraordinary. Think about it—how often do we feel like we’re running on empty? Like joy is just out of reach? This miracle isn’t just about wine; it’s a reminder that God’s grace can fill our lives with abundance and joy, even in the most unexpected ways.

Some clever thematic pricing, that's also appetizing for "value oriented" customers - (like me)😋. One commenter even suggested nickel ($0.05) pricing to represent the original IRT fare maintained for over 50 years.(!) The cobranded wrapper with route strip to Zabar's destination is also nicely done in period appropriate graphics & font. BTW After seeing this add, I will be rerouting my commute to make the most of it ; - )
Bagel lovers, this one's for you! 🥯 To celebrate the 120th anniversary of the NYC subway and the 90th birthday of Zabar's, we've teamed up to bring you some Commuter Specials! From this Thursday (October 24) through Sunday (October 27), between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., you can find these great deals at Zabar's on the Upper West Side: • $1.20 bagel with cream cheese • $2.90 bagel with cream cheese and coffee (in honor of the NYC subway fare) • $9.90 bagel with cream cheese and Nova lox (a nod to Zabar's 90th birthday this year) See you there!
