Meet Cooper, owner of a small CNC machine shop in Butler, Wisconsin Like many small manufacturers, he was struggling to find qualified machinists through traditional job boards. Sifting through unqualified resumes while wearing multiple hats - running operations, managing customers, and overseeing finances. Sound familiar? Then everything changed. Within hours of signing on with FactoryFix, Cooper was scheduling interviews with qualified candidates - a process that used to take weeks. 🔔 📣 Here is the most popular question Machine Shop hiring managers ask when evaluating hireCNC’s recruiting services... "EVERY RECRUITER I TALK TO PROMISES THE WORLD. USUALLY THEY DISSAPOINT. HOW ARE YOU ANY DIFFERENT?” 🤔 Here is how we have been answering that... From what we have learned, recruiters come in all shapes and sizes. Some are solid. Some are brutal. And a lot land somewhere in between. So it’s difficult to stay how we compare to the other recruiters you've worked with. BUT, here is what we do know... 1) We are very very specialized. We only do CNC related roles. Why is that important? Well, we know the difference between a setup machinist and a programmer. We know the difference between 5 axis simultaneous and 3+2. We know the difference between CAM programming and longhand. We know the difference between production environments and short run environments. Etc. Etc. 2) Our database of machinists is detailed and growing rapidly. Being specialized allows us to invest big here. Our site hireCNC.com generates thousands of new signups (profiles and job alerts) per month, with personal emails and addresses (city/state). We are contacting machinists day in and day out on various social media platforms. Every screening call we do and every resume we obtain goes into our database. Every person in our database is sortable by skill level that includes operator, setup, programmer, shop manager, etc.. Does your recruiting agency have a robust machining database? 3) What happens when your primary recruiter at the big agency leaves? Do they bring in somebody new who likely has no idea what machining is? How do they fair with that? Do they have a database they can lean on? Industry experts they can lean on? 4) We know where machinists hang out on the web. We know the niche industry forums and we can go there to share jobs. 5) We don’t require exclusivity. We are happy to compete with other agencies if you have some that you’re already working with. Let’s see how hireCNC stacks up against them... We are also relentless and exhaust all our options to find suitable candidates for the jobs. But we would expect other recruiters do that as well. We are not perfect. And we can't do magic. But we are learning, growing and having success. Recruiting machinists is what we do all day every day. #cnc #cncmachining #machining #cncjobs #cncmachinist #cncprogrammer #cncoperator #hireCNC #cncrecruiting #recruitingmachinists

My #1 Piece of Advice to Machine Shops About Job Postings... 🔔 🔔 🎤 You have to include a pay range!! I talk to machinists every single day about CNC job opportunities. One things is very clear. Including pay information is non-negotiable if you want your job posting to do well. In some states, it’s the law to provide a pay range. In others, it’s not. But either way, if you want decent applications coming in, you have to do it. There’s a general feeling that skilled machinists are underpaid for their work. So, when they see a role with no pay range, they assume the worst... 1. The company underpays. If you pay well, why not include your pay scale? Your job post asks for all the qualifications under the sun. You want the perfect machinist. But then you don’t include a pay range? No thanks! 2. You can’t keep your good machinists. If you pay well, your good machinists would stay. Plus, you’d easily attract good machinists from other companies that underpay. But since your job post is open and you’re spending money on recruiting, it looks like you’re having a hard time. Now, 1 & 2 might not be true at all. But those are the initial assumptions. And if I’m a skilled machinist, I have endless opportunities and a busy schedule. The last thing I want to do is apply through your ATS system and go through a 4-week interview process just to find out if the pay even interests me. P.S. I have shared job postings with no pay ranges in industry forums in the past and have been called a lot of things, including "a predator". All because there was no pay range on the job posting! 🤔 #cnc #cncmachining #machining #cncjobs #cncmachinist #cncprogrammer #cncoperator #hireCNC

For about a year this is what fabrication looked like for us. When we started the business in a 10' x 10' storage unit, we simply didn't have enough room to have a table and easy access to our tools and equipment. Our best solution was to drop a 1/2" plate on the floor so we could walk overtop of it when we needed to, and it could be a work surface when it needed to be. For a year we built our products without clamps, because we couldn't use them effectively on our floor plate. It was hard on our knees and our back. In the winter the plate sucked the heat right out of us while we laid on it in our unheated storage unit. Some days we parked the truck and worked by the light of the headlights. I don't know if I even remember this feeling like a problem we needed to solve. It was just what it was, and we were just some youngsters doing what we had the ability to do. It wasn't until we started hiring that we invested in better conditions for our new team members. Our first job interviews we did from our storage unit before we even had a shop. Many talk about how hard it is to hire these days. Imagine trying to win over candidates as they do our interview and weld test on the bed of our truck outside. 2024 is wrapping up quickly. There's so much we've done, and so much left to do. While we hit our stride in one place, another area falls out of sync. The ebbs and flows of endeavors that have no end. 2025 will be a big year for us. This year we'll ground ourselves with the inspirations that motivated us in the early days. We grow ever closer to the vision we were chasing.

The Importance of Precision in Both Machining and Recruitment. In machining, precision is everything—whether it’s a part being cut within thousandths of an inch or setting up a CNC machine to run just right. That same level of precision applies to recruitment in our industry. Finding the right fit for a shop isn’t just about matching skills on paper, it’s about understanding the specific nuances of the role, the company culture, and even how someone will work with the rest of the team. Precision in recruitment means looking beyond the resume to find someone who truly fits—because the right hire can mean the difference between hitting your production deadlines or missing them. What’s one thing you’ve learned about precision in your line of work? #Machining #Recruitment #PrecisionMatters #ManufacturingCareers #CNC

I launched a CNC Machining job board in February of 2023 called hireCNC. We founded hireCNC because our other business In-House Solutions Inc. had struggled for years using sites like Indeed to find machinists. A 30-day posting would generate ~100 applicants, 97 of which were international or completely irrelevant to the role. That's a lot of wasted time and money. We were/are paying $400+ per posting on Indeed and getting almost nothing back. Maybe that happens to you to. So we believed there could be a better job board and recruiting solution for Machine Shops. And we got to work on hireCNC. Getting it right initially was a lot more challenging than I thought. There are some major challenges around generating relevant applicants in a high-demand, low-supply position like machining. But, we’ve recently made some major headway. And Version 2.0 of our site is going live tomorrow! Today, when you post a job on hireCNC you can be confident it will be immediately seen by HUNDREDS of relevant machinists in your geographical area. How can we guarantee that? This is what happens in the background... 1. We generate site traffic via SEO and paid ads (standard job board stuff). We were doing this from the beginning. 2. Programmatic. Which is fancy advertising speak for cross promoting. So, when you post your job on hireCNC your job is also automatically posted on Ziprecruiter. You get a 2 for 1! 3. Background emails. This one is big. hireCNC automatically emails every machinist in our database based on a relevant geographical location & experience level. The email includes a few sentences about the job + a link to the posting. The quantity of candidates depends on where your company is located, but on average it’s 50 - 200 candidates that will be seeing your job in their inbox. It’s a proactive part of our solution that doesn’t really exist across other standard job board platforms. 4. Social Media groups. Your job gets advertised in our social media groups including Facebook and LinkedIn. Does 1-4 ensure you will land a suitable hire quickly? Absolutely not. Finding and hiring machinists is still really really hard. But... That’s a lot of reach for a $199 job posting. Or better yet, you can have 12 months of unlimited job postings for only $1,000 (that’s $83 per month!!). Stop spending all that money on sites like Indeed, just to get the same frustrating results. Join hireCNC where our sole mission is to match Machine Shops with CNC Machinists! Read this far? Please like this post if you can think of just 1 machine shop that needs help with hiring machinists! #cnc #cncmachining #machining #cncjobs #cncmachinist #cncprogrammer #cncoperator #hireCNC https://hirecnc.com/
