What are you doing on April 9th? The Hudson Institute is presenting "China’s Interference in Taiwan’s Election and Implications for America." "In January, Taiwan held another successful democratic election. Prior to the election, however, the People’s Republic of China attempted to influence the results by spreading lies on social media about the candidates, the candidates’ political parties, and Taiwanese domestic issues. But the PRC’s political interests aren’t limited to Taiwan. According to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the PRC, through social media sites like TikTok, attempted to influence the 2022 United States midterm elections—and Beijing will likely do the same in the 2024 US presidential election. Join Hudson for a panel with some of the leading organizations combating the PRC’s influence operations in Taiwan and around the world. Today in Ghana, we vote. As we elect our leaders, consider this, every day, we hold our own elections. We cast votes for our priorities, our goals, and the standards we hold ourselves to. Leaders and influencers offer us promises and guidance, shaping our choices and expectations. But we also owe it to ourselves to evaluate our own growth, our self-economy, and how eligible we are to lead our own lives effectively. As you step into the polling booth today, take a moment to reflect: are you voting daily for your own self-development, progress, and purpose? The ballot for personal growth isn’t just a one-time event—it’s a lifelong practice.

**The 2024 Dilemma: A Choice Between Two Unfit Candidates?** The 2024 presidential election presents Americans with an unfortunate and troubling choice. On one hand, we have a convicted felon who openly seeks to undermine democracy, and on the other, we have Kamala Harris, whose infamous "word salads" and diplomatic missteps make her seem ill-prepared for the role of Commander-in-Chief. Yet, as concerning as Harris’s leadership flaws are, when faced with the alternative, the choice becomes painfully clear. While Harris’s gaffes—like referring to South Korea as the "Republic of North Korea"—raise serious questions about her competence, they pale in comparison to the threat posed by someone who has already demonstrated a willingness to erode democratic institutions. In this scenario, voters may find themselves forced to choose the lesser of two evils, and that means voting for Harris, not out of enthusiasm, but as a measure of protecting the country from a far greater danger. It’s a tragic reflection of the state of American politics that we’re left with such a dismal choice. But at the end of the day, preserving democracy outweighs the risks of electing an unsteady leader like Harris. #KamalaHarris #2024Election #LesserOfTwoEvils #DemocracyAtRisk #LeadershipCrisis #USPolitics #VoteForTheFuture

When it comes to understanding consumer preferences, Barack Obama has always been ahead of the curve. In 2008, he masterminded an entire internet strategy, crafting a narrative that propelled him to the presidency. This move not only secured his win but also revolutionized social media and many aspects of our digital world today. Now, he's at it again with Kamala Harris, leveraging what can be called "preferential sentiment." Obama understands that today's American voters, much like consumers, are driven more by emotion than logic. The winner of this election will be the one who connects on an emotional level, not through logic or reasoning. Recent studies show that buyers increasingly make decisions based on sentiment and emotions. Your employees are no different—they respond with their hearts, not their heads. To get the best from them, you must appeal to their emotions. This is precisely what Obama aims to do with the Harris campaign, and it’s crucial for Republicans to recognize this strategy. If they fail to, they risk repeating the mistakes of John McCain and Mitt Romney, who, despite being strong candidates, lost because they didn't connect emotionally with voters. As I address Republicans, I also speak to business owners and managers today: focus on the heart of your employees more than the head, speak feelings more than numbers. This is how Gen Z thinks and how the entire globe is moving. Emotional intelligence and connection win the majority. #Leadership #EmotionalIntelligence #BusinessStrategy #Elections #ConsumerBehavior #BarackObama #KamalaHarris #HRManagement #GenZ #VoterSentiment

Donald Trump's choice of JD Vance, on 15 July, as his running mate for the November election does not materially broaden his voter appeal — he is already leading opinion polls in all of the key swing states. But it demonstrates his grip on the Republican party, in contrast to the division among Democrats over incumbent Joe Biden's candidacy, and it reinforces most of the Trump 2.0 risks for #emergingmarkets. More on these risks for #Ukraine #Taiwan #Philippines #Israel #Iran #NATO in my latest report, published on Tellimer. https://lnkd.in/ea4f-TmJ

🇫🇷🇪🇺 French President Emmanuel Macron's party, the National Revival (Renaissance), is initiating the formation of a new alliance at the European level to consolidate the liberal forces of the European Union. The newly created association, called the New Europeans, was founded this month under French law and will bring together the Renaissance with other political parties from France, Romania, Slovenia, Poland and Denmark. Currently, the association includes 22 members of the European Parliament, who consider this initiative to be the first step towards the creation of a single liberal party at the European level after the upcoming elections. It is important to emphasise that since its first representation in the European Parliament in 2019, the French party "Renaissance" has not joined any European party or created its own at the EU level. At the same time, the New Europeans do not currently have the status of a political party, but its members see the creation of such an organisation as the ultimate goal of their activities. 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇬🇧 • Glib Ostapenko • — ✍️
