How is the city of dreams, Mumbai, treating you? Being a North Indian, I often get asked this question, and here’s what it has made me think through. It’s been about 5 months since I moved to the city of dreams, and I am in love with what it has to offer: relatively cleaner air, incredible networking opportunities, diverse experiences, great places to hang out, and so much more. But then, a casual call with a friend in Delhi often spirals into the never-ending Mumbai vs. Delhi debate. This made me think how deeply our preferences are shaped by what we value the most - be it comfort, convenience, opportunities, or lifestyle. And this thought doesn’t just apply to cities, it extends to our career choices too. One line, from Poornima Pandey, that stayed with me from the TAS induction session was: “The single biggest contribution we can make to our own career is to discover our predominant career anchor and then race towards it.” In life and career, we are constantly bombarded with choices. But having a clear understanding of our anchors - what truly drives and fulfills us - helps us navigate these decisions with clarity and confidence. "Mumbai - The City of Dreams" We've all heard this phrase, and indeed, many flock to Mumbai daily in pursuit of success. But the unfortunate part is only few are able to achieve it. Mumbai welcomes everyone, irrespective of caste, culture, or financial background. Here are some invaluable lessons I've learned during my time here : 1. The Importance of Time - Coming from a tier 3 city where a 15-20 minute delay is unimportant, Mumbai has taught me that every second counts. Missing a local train by mere seconds can set you back an hour! 2. Daily Reality Checks - Mumbai delivers unique lessons every day, from the moment I leave my hostel till I return from work in the evening. Moreover, I value the small yet meaningful additions to my day. 3. Humbleness & Down to earth nature - Here, you'll find the Boss and the employee travelling together and enjoying a vadapav together on station. This teaches you to become humble no matter what position you achieve. 4. Drive for Excellence - The intense competition here pushes me to frequently strive for my best. Watching people hustle everyday boosts me with motivation. Yet I'm awaiting to learn more things ahead. Enjoying every moment of this beautiful experience! ;)

In 2024, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery by moving to a new city for the first time. Uncertain about what lay ahead, I found myself in a city I never imagined calling home. Despite initially planning to move abroad, the twists and turns of fate led me to a new direction in my life, and I couldn’t have been happier now. Here are the key lessons I've learned, especially valuable for those in their early twenties: a. Living in a fast-paced city like Mumbai, I realized it's okay to have tough days alongside the good ones. b. Amidst the excitement of new beginnings, the comfort of family and friends, and the warmth of home-cooked meals, my mother’s love has been my anchor. e. Recognizing the importance of networking and nurturing friendships, I've embraced the value of a robust support system in navigating life's challenges. f. Facing unexpected hurdles, I've learned to adapt and persevere, realizing that setbacks are growth opportunities. g. Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, I've learned the importance of prioritizing my physical and mental well-being.
