Following a three-week jury trial in the Norfolk Superior Court, Brown Rudnick secured a complete victory for Clay Ventures, a third-generation family of automobile dealers, in a multimillion-dollar valuation fight over real estate assets sold to an acquiring auto group. This would be fascinating, if the bankruptcy court approves it. However, single tenant #reits do not have a good track record of investor acceptance. Most never made it across the finish line into the public markets. Those that did traded at a massive discount to the REIT average. Worldwide M&A activity totaled U.S. $1.5 trillion during the first half of 2024, an 18% increase compared with the same period one year ago. U.S. M&A activity totaled $813.1 billion, an increase of 39% compared with the first half of 2023.
