"𝗢𝗠𝗚, 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗠𝗲!" Making success about “me” — my worth — is an invitation to Leadership Hell that sets the stage for us to suffer, and likely, cause suffering for those around us, too. If we are driven to reach a goal because we think we will impress others enough to be worthy in their eyes, that will generate stress. Why? Because we’ll be placing so much on the line (our self-worth) that we’ll live with an ongoing tension of seeking and needing the approval of others — an ongoing cycle of self-generated pressure. For most of us, this need for approval operates beneath the level of our awareness. It’s not like we’re walking around strategizing, “How can I get approval today.” It may be subtle, but it’s there if you dare to look. When we make the quality and success of our work about our self-worth, every misstep becomes magnified way out of proportion and perceived as carrying great consequence. That’s a lot of unnecessary pressure to place on ourselves. Making other people’s opinions a measure of our self-worth is a fool’s errand, anyway, because even if we do succeed, there’s no guarantee that anyone will notice or give us the recognition we want. A better approach is liberation from making everyone else our appointed judge and jury. Lighten up. Most people who have earnestly looked into this part of themselves have laughed so hard when they realized how much they’ve tortured themselves over the years. One CEO yelled, “OMG, IT’S NOT ABOUT ME!!!!” That’s liberating. #selfworth #leadershippressure #consciousleadership #overcomingpressure #selfawareness #leadershipdevelopment #personalgrowth #awareness

07.31.2024: 'Forrest Allen Ward's Words,' a daily column ... intended to encourage and support. "Are you waiting to be happy finally? You could be satisfied on this day and every day after ... it is a matter of choosing! Choosing is a lot faster than deciding. Choosing is about seeing your options and selecting the most optimal one at any moment. Have your choices align with your vision, purpose, and principles. So, what is the root word for the word 'decide'? The root word is a Greek word '- cide.' Its definition means 'to kill' (as in homicide, fratricide, suicide, genocide, etc.). Decide sets us up for an internal debate that never ends. That debate puts us in a whirlwind of assessments, pros & cons, worries, frustrations, snivelings, and judgments. In all of this melee, there is usually only one conclusion and that is to negate any action. I would rather choose than decide! Choosing helps us stay centered. If we should make the wrong choice, then make another choice. The beauty of choosing is who you are can continue to function as optimally as possible. Successful people make choices readily. You won't find them sitting on the sidelines with their thumbs in their mouths. They have far better things to do. Keep choosing. Don't wait for better circumstances! Create the circumstances that you want. Choosing appropriately is one way of taking care of yourself. Be kind, compassionate, and caring throughout the actions you have chosen. Don't become mired in the complications around you. Keep choosing while you have the time! You will be more than glad you do! Enjoy the joy that can be found in each choice." - Forrest Allen Ward #ussuccesscenter #newpossibilities #leadership #significance #success #executiveleadership #leadershippresence #results #powerconnector #authenticleadership #network #globalcollaboration #leadership #workplaceculture #corporateculture #leadershipdevelopment #salescoaching #salesdevelopment

I was reflecting, on the transformation of a courageous client. This client took a risk and shared, I am 130 pounds overweight. Intuitively, I was prompted to ask a question… Did something happen when you were a teenager? With great vulnerability and tears, this client responded yes. I asked, have you forgiven them and yourself? The response was NO! Being fully present in this precious moment: This client was so courageous and chose to go through a forgiveness exercise. Eight weeks later, this client shared with GREAT JOY: Ed, I am now 25 pounds lighter! We both cried and laughed simultaneously. This client shared that for two decades, they were in shame and in a condemnation prison. 1. What is fear costing you? 2. What is one act of courage you can take? 3. Perfect is Imperfect. One client found the inner critic in his head nonstop with “you’re not good enough” and “you have to work 120% so you will be viewed as an ideal human.” He was micromanaging his team and family. People avoided him and he was lonely. His stress levels came to a tipping point when his mental and physical health could no longer cope. In a safe, nonjudgmental space, we explored his false beliefs of being “perfect” as Brené Brown said well in her book, The Gifts of Imperfection. Now, he courageously recites self-affirmations with humility, creates pause moments to reset his brain on what’s true and decides what he can and cannot control. 80% is good enough, even 50% is good enough. He’s learning, unlearning and relearning for greater self confidence and trust in himself and team members. He is flourishing through his self-compassion and self-acceptance. His children even noticed his courage and humility when he says, ”I was wrong.” Oh, and the inner critic is replaced with his compassionate Inner Sage. To start, see the resources in the comments. Let’s partner together to revitalize your standstill career, master your overwhelming leadership outcomes, unlock your disrupted and drained energy or steer your anchorless life to live with intention, clarity, confidence and courage. #leadership #management #personaldevelopment #executivesandmanagement #inspiration #motivation #leadershipdevelopment #employeeengagement #leaders #people

You can’t always be expected to land a great creative punch, but if you don’t keep trying you never will. Mediocrity is easy. Boring, but easy. Pushing your creative limits is hard and you need to be mindful that some plans and directions won’t work out, but that’s okay. “Everyone has a plan: until they get punched in the face.” - Mike Tyson Plus, doing fresh work that separates you from the pack can open you up to criticism. And that can feel like a punch in the face. But here’s the thing about critics - they have never even tried to do what you’re trying to do, or they tried, failed and gave up…that’s why they are critics. The people who have done what you’re trying to do are so busy doing their next thing that they have no time to criticize others. It’s another reason why, when strolling through a park, you won't see a statue of a critic. “I don't know anyone actually who does care what a critic says.” - Lou Reed And don’t let fear of failure and not hitting the mark stop you or slow you down, failure is part of the process. Failure will show you a different door to try and go through that you hadn’t seen before because the wrong direction clouded your vision. "There is no innovation and creativity without failure. Period." ― Brene Brown Oh, and always ensure you have someone in your corner, a little bit of support and encouragement goes a long way. ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡ If you’re looking for creative coaching and guidance, I work with people looking to step up to a leadership role and those who have suddenly found themselves in the role and want to get it right. I have a couple of openings for June, get in touch and we’ll chat. #creativity #creativedirector #creativecoach #creativecareers

I’ve always been fascinated by this quote and the mechanism behind elevating our thinking beyond the level that perceives the problem. It turns out that we now understand quite a lot about it and even if we haven’t tried to study it, we have probably all noticed that solutions do come to us when we're totally absorbed in something else, or at the weekend, if and when we are more relaxed. So, if we want to see beyond a problem, uncover the root cause of a stressful situation, and find the key to accessing creativity and resourcefulness, we have to be able to tap into our most vibrant selves. The one that isn't working through a to-do list, attempting to be reliably creative on demand, or ruminating on the day. What’s interesting is that it flies in the face of so many of our business habits and processes that we tend to regard as ‘best practice’. So, I am interested: what is your organisation doing differently to embrace our ever-expanding knowledge of how to truly see beyond the problem? It would be great to get a vibrant (pun absolutely intended) discussion going on this! #Creativity #ProblemSolving #Leadership

The REAL cost of your 'Sorry, can't make it! It’s been a while since I’ve observed a behavior that’s becoming more common every day: people not showing up to their virtual or in-person meetings and others failing to act ethically. This made me stop and question: Why is keeping our word so important? Here are three reasons: 1. Trust is Everything: If you don’t keep your promises, people lose faith in you. Once broken, it’s hard to repair. 2. Your Reputation Follows You: One missed meeting costs 10x the relationship equity, affecting both business and personal life. 3. Every "no-show" tells people: My time > Your time (Think about it) Remember: Your actions today are tomorrow's reputation. ⚡ Take Action: Start treating every calendar invite like a written contract. 🌟Takeaway: Words are powerful, but actions give them meaning. Make sure you’re the person who honors your commitments—both big and small. 📌P.S. When was the last time someone didn't show up for you? How does it affect your trust in them? #ProfessionalEthics #Leadership #Trust #BusinessEthics #BusinessCoaching #CoachJasmine #JasmineKaur #JasmineConsulting Jasmine Kaur - Business Coach #BusinessLessons
