https://lnkd.in/gapteJJG Article title: Illness Perception and Hopelessness in Hemodialysis Author(s): Mukadder Mollaoglu; Ferhan Candan; Muratcan Mollaoglu Journal: Archives of Clinical Nephrology Journal ISSN: 2581-3870 Abstract: Background: Illness perception is useful in understanding the impact of hopelessness on ESRD patients. This perception has been found to be an important determinant of behavior and has been associated with a number of important outcomes such as treatment adherence and functional recovery and quality of life. Aim: The aims of this study were to determine, the level of hopelessness and to evaluate whether illness perception is related to hopelessness among End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients on hemodialysis (HD). #IllnessPerception #Hopelessness #HemodialysisPatients #DiabeticNephropathy #ChronicKidneyDiseases #AcuteKidneyDisease #KidneyFibrosis #KidneyCalculi #RenalFailure #RenalTransplantation #ChronicHaemodialysis #RenalCancer #RenalImpairment #Glomerulonephritis #Urogynecology #ReconstructiveUrology #RenalHypertension #Nephrolithiasis #RenalImmunology #RenalPhysiology #RenalOsteodystrophy #RenovascularDisease #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #ClinicalNephrology #PediatricNephrology #Neurourology #PediatricUrology #TubulointerstitialDisorders #GeriatricNephrology #Haematuria

Nocturnal should be the one initially offered. What do most patients eventually end up doing doing dialysis????? SLEEP!! more dialysis no matter how you look at it is better for the body. That is why home hemo is better, longer more often dialysis is acting more like a kidney. For someone like my wife Christina, someone that may not ever get another kidney, we want and deserve the most effective dialysis to keep her healthy!!! LET ME SAY OT FOR THE ONES IN THE BACK!!! MORE OFTEN DIALYSIS IS JUST BETTER!! Biggest fear…. What if my needles come out??!! If being trained properly and checking those needles you should be able to pretty much yank on those lines without problem!!! BLIND CHICK Living - on dialysis, Michael Gilchrist, Christina Gilchrist We are not doctors, we are a Carepartner and a blind chick. Always check with your kidney team. #ChristinaGilchrist #BlindChickLiving #MichaelGilchrist #thecaretaker #carepartner #caregiver #LIVINGondialysis #NxStage #AtHomeWithNxStage #OnTheRoadwithNxStage #fresenius #HomeDialysis #DialysisAtHome #KidneyCommunity #HHD #DialysisStrong #KidneyCarePartner #KidneyWarrior #Dialysis #cannulation #cannulate #needle #notdead #living #medical #fistula #graft #cvc #carepartnerkidneydonor

NxStage Medical, Inc. has crafted a façade of advocacy that, in reality, is a meticulously engineered marketing strategy designed to manipulate trust, control narratives, and drive sales. Let’s call it what it is: corporate opportunism at the expense of vulnerable patients and the broader renal community. This isn’t just a questionable practice—it’s a betrayal. The core of NxStage’s problem lies in its deliberate lack of transparency. By aligning with carefully selected individuals labeled as “advocates” or “experts,” NxStage presents these voices as impartial, when they are deeply tied to the company’s agenda. These so-called advocates don’t speak for the community—they echo corporate priorities. Patients are misled into believing these endorsements are authentic, when in reality they’re strategic partnerships designed to funnel patients into the NxStage pipeline. Even more concerning is how NxStage oversimplifies the diverse and complex challenges faced by the renal community. Their marketing glosses over the harsh realities patients face—whether it’s financial hardship, logistical hurdles, or deeply personal choices. Instead of presenting solutions tailored to the diverse needs of patients, NxStage offers a one-size-fits-all narrative designed to drive revenue. This kind of blanket marketing not only misrepresents reality but actively harms patients by steering them away from options that might be better suited to their specific situations. NxStage’s actions raise serious ethical questions, and their disregard for transparency and patient autonomy needs to be called out. Advocacy isn’t about controlling narratives to serve corporate goals. NxStage’s approach, however, seems to be less about empowerment and more about persuasion. Here’s why their tactics are harmful and why they undermine trust across the board: 🛑 Concealing financial and strategic relationships 💬 Deploying biased “advocates” to push agendas 🪤 Exploiting the trust of vulnerable patients 🚪 Ignoring the individual complexities of patient care 💸 Prioritizing sales above patient needs ❌ Undermining independent, informed patient decisions This behavior is especially damaging to a community already burdened with complex health challenges. Dialysis patients and their families face enough hurdles—financial, emotional, logistical—without being subjected to manipulative marketing masquerading as advocacy. NxStage’s strategy doesn’t empower patients; it traps them in a cycle of controlled information designed to steer them toward the company’s products. What’s even more troubling is how NxStage’s tactics reflect a broader issue in the healthcare industry: the prioritization of corporate profits over patient well-being. By controlling the conversation, companies like NxStage strip patients of their autonomy, replacing authentic advocacy with hollow campaigns designed to protect their bottom line. NxStage, your approach isn’t just flawed—it’s harmful.
