Great effort from all involved and great example of how LED technology has to be paired with efficient control methods before you can really start to benefit from the cost savings, year on year, and consumption reduction. LED technology provides the instant wattage reduction and maintenance free aspect, with good technology installed by experts It’s the control methods that are vital, switching these lights ON/OFF💡 and providing illumination only when required - reducing hold times from 24-Hours a day to less than 20minutes a day - per light That’s when we really start to see drastic savings and huge reductions in ROI’s 💰

Great article of JLL showing that the next few years present a unique opportunity for building owners and occupiers to leverage the net zero transition to drive economic value. The study reveals that 65% of office and 75% of multifamily buildings face stranding risk by 2030 if action isn’t taken to improve building performance. JLL’s uses machine learning, energy modelling and outside data sources to continuously optimize all HVAC equipment, reducing energy consumption and costs by 20% while also improving indoor air quality and tenant comfort. #nzeb #energysaving #energyefficieny #HVAC #indoorairquality #iaq #healthybuilding #decarbonisation #decarbonization #energytransition #machinelearning #epbd

Building Performance Standards and the Path to Net-Zero 🌍 Over 40 U.S. cities are sharpening their focus on building performance standards (BPS) to meet ambitious net-zero goals by 2050 or earlier. State and local governments are implementing these standards to prioritize energy efficiency and emissions reductions in the built environment. So far, 13 U.S. cities have implemented BPS, and over 30 more plan to do so by 2026. These standards require building owners to manage energy and emissions performance to avoid fines. Notably, cities like New York, Boston, and Seattle are leading the charge, with penalties for non-compliance set to increase significantly. What do the penalties look like? New York’s Local Law 97 fines $268 per ton of excess emissions, while Boston’s BERDO sets daily fines of $1,000 for buildings over 35,000 square feet starting in 2025. Seattle’s BEPS, effective in 2031, will penalize non-residential buildings $10 per square foot for failing to meet emissions targets. One way to meet these standards is by upgrading to energy-efficient systems like LED lighting. LED lights significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions, helping buildings comply with BPS and avoid costly fines. For building owners, now is the time to proactively manage and improve energy performance. Stay informed on how these evolving regulations impact your building projects and how we can help you meet these new standards. At SteelCo Construction, we understand the importance of these standards and are committed to helping our clients navigate these changes, achieve compliance, and optimize projects for a greener future. #NetZero #Sustainability #SustainableConstruction #EnergyEfficiency #ClimateTargets #LEDLighting #GreenBuildings #BPS #ConstructionIndustry #CommercialRealEstate #CRE #GeorgiaGeneralContractors https://lnkd.in/ePgfH4pA

💡 Why Are New Homes Still Energy Sieves? Time to Scrutinise Project Builders 🏠⚡ Despite advancements in building materials and technology, many new homes still suffer from poor energy efficiency. But why? It often comes down to builder practices and priorities: 1️⃣ Low Standards: Some project builders prioritise cost over sustainability, opting for less efficient materials to reduce upfront expenses. 2️⃣ Outdated Designs: Not all builders incorporate energy-efficient designs, leading to homes that require excessive heating or cooling. 3️⃣ Consumer Awareness: Many homeowners aren’t aware of what energy efficiency should look like in modern construction, making it easy for builders to cut corners. 🔧 The Solution: Homeowners can push for better standards by asking questions, understanding energy ratings, and choosing builders committed to sustainable practices. 💬 Have you experienced energy efficiency issues with new builds? What solutions do you think are needed in the industry? Let’s discuss below! #SustainableBuilding #EnergyEfficiency #HomeConstruction #GreenBuilding #RealEstate #ConstructionIndustry

🛠 Addressing the Challenges of Retrofitting Commercial Buildings for Low Carbon and Net Zero 🌲 With UK commercial real estate occupiers and owners having to consider pushing towards a low carbon and net zero future, retrofitting existing commercial buildings is not without its challenges. However, the potential benefits, such as long-term energy savings and a more sustainable future, make it a worthwhile endeavor. From technical hurdles to financial considerations, making sustainable choices requires careful planning and execution. Key Challenges: 🔧 Technical Complexities: Older buildings often have outdated designs that are incompatible with modern energy-efficient technologies. Examining how best to integrate new systems is complex and should be done with expert independent advice. Consider the entire building ecosystem, including HVAC, insulation, and lighting systems, to create a cohesive plan that enhances energy efficiency. 💷 Financial Constraints: Retrofitting can be costly, and the initial investment may seem daunting. However, long-term savings in energy costs and potential incentives can offset these expenses. Budget well and always consider future upgrades alongside life cycle and PPM plans. 📄 Regulatory Compliance: Navigating the maze of regulations and standards for energy performance and building retrofits can be challenging. Staying updated and compliant is crucial. 📈 Accurate energy data: This helps us understand the current energy performance of buildings, which is crucial to identifying which retrofitting measures will be most effective in reducing emissions and improving efficiency. It also allows us to benchmark against industry standards and track energy performance over time, ensuring that retrofitting measures deliver the expected improvements. 👌 Stakeholder Confidence: Considering all the above will build trust among stakeholders, including investors and tenants, by providing transparent evidence of a building’s sustainability efforts. Our Team would love to know your thoughts on retrofitting commercial buildings. Share your experiences or questions below! #NetZero #LowCarbon #SustainableBuildings #UKRealEstate #GreenRetrofit
