Top Tips on organising a corporate dinner event Negotiate. Especially if your event is not happening on a peak date, such as a Thursday. Proactive venues will offer you a discount for a Monday & Tuesday, others will not. Put your table plan in alphabetical order, surname first! Ideally table plans will be in alphabetical order. We strongly suggest avoiding name place cards on the table. Scanning for your table in a sea of 400 names can be very time consuming. Think about tables! Round tables of 5ft or 5ft 6in are the best for social talking. Any larger than this and it is difficult to engage with everyone at the table. Don’t block heads with the wrong shape table centres. These should not act as a block across the table. Again this makes it easy for guests to chat with those around the table. Most good florists or light installers will appreciate this. Keep your guests entertained. Having some form of entertainment during dinner can lift the room and give it a shot of energy. Dance acts,opera singers, west end performers etc all work; it really depends on your audience. #Corporateevents #christmasparties

Throwback to an insanely, fabulous circus themed Halloween party last year for a private household. Whilst we are on Halloween, we have got some fantastic Halloween events lined up this weekend with Evoke Entertainment - but I’ve noticed a huge surge in last-minute booking requests, often paired with very low budgets. I completely understand that budgets are getting tighter across the board in the UK for 2024, however I’ve had to turn down quite a bit of work this past week because the combination of short notice and low budgets just wasn’t achievable for our standard. For the festive and Christmas season, I’d really encourage venues not to fall into this pattern. I know it can be tricky to finalise budgets for ticketed events, but please be upfront from the start with your suppliers. Planning ahead and being clear about your budget really helps and avoids wasting everyone’s time. By having unrealistic expectations or not respecting suppliers' time, you could end up burning bridges with some of the best in the business – and that’s definitely something to avoid for building long standing relationships. There’s certainly a dip in the road this year here in the UK but once things start to boom again which they will, make sure you still have great connections.

Open question to planners/promoters: Is it really necessary for an event to expand when successful? Or is it better to retain the exclusivity of a smaller event (context below) Another successful event last week, a couple of tickets shy of a sellout actually (fully tooting our horn here, the team put a lot of work into it) We were approached by a DJ afterwards singing her praises on the event, saying that we should expand into larger venues with a better headcount, increase ticket price to cover any overhead. Not sure how I feel about that, with the current set up everyone has a good time and gets paid, the venue are happy, and we're creating a space for a more dedicated following.
