My absolute highlight of the TEDAI Vienna conference so far was the discussion of Sepp Hochreiter with Ramin Hasani (Liquid AI) about the obstructions and next steps in AI Innovation. Sepp Hochreiter stated, that the genesis of AI can be clustered in three phases: 1️⃣ research from the middle of the 20th century on 2️⃣ scaling through LLMs, which we experience right now 3️⃣ industrializing AI. Big innovations, such as the invention of the steam engine or agricultural fertilizers (referring to the Haber-Bosch process) have followed the same trajectory. So, being in the phase of scaling up, the next huge step is industrializing AI and this is where NXAI is heavily pushing forward. I am curious what next steps we will see from them in terms of industrialization. ⚠️ One more aspect of their thought-provoking discussion was, while AI development is speeding up and xLSTM is making it way more efficient, AI adoption in the European industry is seriously lagging behind. I had to opportunity to ask Sepp Hochreiter and Ramin Hasani how they perceive the reactions of industry leaders and where they see the reasons for “lame AI adoption”. Their answer: Missing understanding of the technology and a high risk perception due to high adoption costs of big models seriously hinder our economies from profiting from the AI game. 🔑 So the biggest challenge – besides scarce compute capacities - is definitely the human aspect. Means of making people understand and shaping risk perception are key in letting our society prosper with the technology – which means creating good for all – as well as making money big time. 💡 And the solution to this challenge is obvious: #aistorytelling makes people understand (provably). Shaping risk perception and human behavior is the missing variable in the AI equation. This is why we at DATA story LAB® dedicate all our energy in showing the way and enabling our customers and partners to fill this gap and finally speed up AI adoption to achieve what AI is promising to us.
