**Rugby League's Emerging Talents Take Center Stage** As the Pacific Championships open with a thrilling face-off between the Kangaroos and Tonga, a critical development is the spotlight on debutants Mitch Moses and Tom Dearden. The Australian Rugby League Commission's decision to include eight newcomers in the 21-player squad underscores a crucial progression in the sport: the integration of fresh talent into top-tier competitions. This strategy not only injects new energy and perspectives into the league but also emphasizes the depth and competitive spirit of Australian rugby. Under the leadership of Captain Isaah Yeo and Vice-Captain Harry Grant, these debutants have the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international platform, potentially redefining career trajectories while representing Australia. In what ways do you see this infusion of new talent influencing the dynamics of the team and the outcome of the championship? How important is it for sports leagues to balance experience with fresh talent?

Short term gain for long term risk is always a tricky one. That's the situation facing Euroleague Basketball is it considers a potentially lucrative offer from Abu Dhabi to host its showpiece event, the Euroleague Final Four. In my latest column, I examine why the short term positives are heavily outweighed by the long term consequences and missed opportunities that would come with such a move. Check it out here: #basketball #sports #sportsbusiness

Did you know the Copa America is the world’s oldest international football (soccer) tournament?! It was first held in 1916 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Argentina’s independence! This past month I had the privilege of working as a Competition Analyst and Training Site Coordinator for the CONMEBOL Copa America 2024. This position allowed me to explore the world of mega sports events highlighting the extensive preparation it takes to plan and execute international sporting competitions. My role included communicating with different stakeholders to ensure that the designated training sites were up to par with CONMEBOL standards while fulfilling the immediate demands from the national teams using them. My key takeaways from this experience are: 1.) Timely and efficient communication is crucial when looking to work with different stakeholders to achieve a common goal. 2.) Do not promise anything you can’t deliver! It is imperative to check in with all partners and review all regulations before committing to doing something. 3.) Create a daily checklist and share this document with your team and all personnel involved. Being on the same page means being a step ahead! 4.) Go above and beyond with every detail! Mega events are all about reputation and building relationships. If you leave a positive impression and image of your site/stadium/city it will be more likely this same event will be hosted there again! #copaamerica #megasports #football
