How to calculate the magnetic field strength of magnet? For simple shape magnet,we can calculate its approximate magnetic field strength by Biot-Savart law. For cylinder shape:equation in figure. Where Br is residual induction of magnet;X is the air gap between testing point and magnet's surface. It should be noted that the measured value of Nickel-coated magnet's magnetic field strength will lower than Biot-Savart simulation value due to shielding effect from ferromagnetism Nickel coating.

COULD THIS BE 1997? Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy. That is, GDOES with depth profiling. Determining which atomic elements are "showing up to the party" as you progressively "scratch the surface". Does the graph make sense to you, fits your expectations? Titanium "saying goodbye" at 4 microns (um), while iron (Fe) is "rearing its ugly head" at around the same distance. By the way, why do we coat stuff?
