UNDERSTANDING EU WATER POLICY WITH THE EUROPEAN WATER ASSOCIATION Have you ever thought about the role of legislation in sustainability related issues? Considering the current situation in Europe, where we face deadly heatwaves on one side and devastating storms and torrential rains on the other, the role of legislation in mitigating the impacts of climate change becomes incredibly important. But is the EU responding quickly enough? Are local governments robust enough to integrate those directives and regulations into their local legislation? These are pressing issues we need to address. The European Water Association (EWA) is in these days running a webinar titled 'Introduction Course to EU Water Policy and Legislation'. This course is making participants familiar with the development and principles of EU water policy, the decision-taking and implementation/scrutiny process, governance at EU levels (openness, transparency, citizens´ right on access to documents), rights of complaint and petition, as well as the key legislative elements of EU water policy and their implementation. Thank you, Arthur G., for the insightful first day. I am looking forward for tomorrow´s continuation!
