🌿 Peatlands are essential for carbon storage! Through Interreg North-West Europe (NWE), CARE-PEAT is restoring peatlands in 🇧🇪 Belgium, 🇳🇱 the Netherlands, 🇫🇷 France, 🇬🇧 the UK and 🇮🇪 Ireland. With innovative techniques, this project prevents emissions and shows the power of peatlands in climate action #GreenEuropeWithInterreg #CohesionPolicy #Interreg #EUGreenDeal #GreenTransition #ClimateNeutralEU Photo by © Wim Dirckx

We need to do more to protect our oceans and address climate change while ensuring that developing countries are not disadvantaged.
Marine #biodiversity and #coastal resilience were prominent themes during the Ocean Dialogue at the #JuneClimateMeeting this week, and the #SouthWestIndianOcean region stands to benefit from the encouragement given to parties to include ocean-climate solutions in their next round of #NationallyDeterminedContributions. However, the negotiations failed to significantly advance on many other key issues such as lacking climate finance and insufficient mitigation measures, including continued fossil fuel exploration. An example that #Cyprus and #Greece should follow in order to accelerate green energy development while safeguarding and conserving biodiversity and particularly bird diversity in the long term. - #Spatial analyses' studies and 'preventive' Spatial planning to identify areas of low conflict/overlap between birds and PV solar, wind projects, and transmission lines. - Providing detailed comments to Government bodies involved in #Green #Energy projects and permitting with main focus on minimizing impacts to birds by prioritising such developments on already #degraded lands and in close proximity to #transmission #lines. - Cooperation of #Environmental #NGOs with the Government to achieve improved permitting while benefiting charismatic and #umbrella #bird species of birds (vultures, eagles) and migratory birds.
This year, Audubon has advanced responsible clean energy development in the U.S. with a focus on protecting birds from climate change and ensuring the energy transition benefits both people and wildlife. See the progress we’ve made so far: https://bit.ly/3AhXbFL

I'm very excited to be presenting on this important topic: Climate Adaptation through Smart Cities. We are facing a changing future with our climate extremes giving us more challenges to deal with. "Smart" means creating better systems that meet the needs of communities and organisations. Smart tools can help and make a lasting impact for liveability. I'll be talking about an ADB funded project that used Ramboll's Australian and international expertise to create improved real-world outcomes for cities. Come and see how demand-driven smart water tech and smart approaches create meaningful impact for communities. I'll be talking about filling data gaps with AI, sandbox approaches, real-time flood data, 3D modelling for non-technical people, and gender equality tech. It's more than just digital too. Capacity building, maintenance, and lots of learning are all part of it. Antony Gibson Craig Niles Stine Dybkjær #PartnerforSustinableChange #RambollWater
Meet Mitchell Dixon from Ramboll discussing ‘Smart Water: Climate Adaptation Through Smart Cities’ at the Australian Smart Water Utilities 2025 Exhibition and Conference in Melbourne, Australia on 24 - 25 February. Join them and others at https://lnkd.in/dkb-UwSD
