September 15-21 is Balance Awareness Week, and it's a reminder of just how important balance is in our lives. Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) created this awareness campaign to highlight often invisible balance disorders. Bringing awareness can lead to quicker and more accurate diagnoses which can lead to an improved quality of life. (source: vestibular.org/BAW) As a dancer, I know firsthand how challenging balance can be—especially after struggling with my feet and losing my balance more often. Last year, while turning, I fell and broke my wrist. Ouch! We often focus on cardio, strength, and flexibility, but forget how critical balance is. What do you do to work on your balance? I’ve been adding simple exercises to my routine to keep myself grounded—literally! #balance #BalanceAwarenessWeek

Myofascial Energetic Release (MER) is a profound and holistic approach to healing pain through deep and sensitive touch. Developed and taught by Satyarthi Peloquin, MER emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, emotions, and mind. By understanding these relationships, you can identify the root causes of various pain syndromes and implement effective healing strategies. The primary objective of Myofascial Energetic Release is to alleviate acute and chronic pain, ultimately restoring full functionality to the body. This enables individuals to lead active and fulfilling lives. The pursuit of an improved quality of life through MER can manifest in multiple ways. Immediate relief from discomfort and pain, as well as emotional disorders, is one of the benefits. Additionally, it promotes long-term enhancements in structural and functional integration, emotional liberation, psychological and behavioral transformations and mental tranquility achieved through meditation. Myofascial Energetic Release transcends traditional manual techniques, representing an organic, holistic system that continuously evolves. This adaptable methodology allows for the incorporation of various techniques, all while maintaining its core principles and character. #myofascialenergeticrelease #nisargadobosz #merhealing #holistichealing #painrelief #chronicpain #deeptouchtherapy #mindbodyconnection #emotionalhealing #structuralintegration #functionalintegration #emotionalliberation #psychologicaltransformation #behavioralchange #meditationhealing #bodymindwellness #holistichealth #satyarthipeloquin #ManualTherapy #naturalhealing #wellnessjourney

In our journey through life, we encounter moments that shape us in profound ways. Some of these moments are challenging, leaving imprints not just on our minds but deeply within our bodies. This imprint, known in somatic practice as the “Trauma Reflex,” represents our body’s attempt to shield and protect us from harm. It’s a testament to our resilience, to our body’s instinctive effort to care for us during times of distress. I’ve seen this reflex manifest in many of my clients, and I’ve felt it within myself. It’s the way our bodies might lean or twist away from past pain, an unconscious guarding against old wounds. Witnessing this in my practice, I remember working with a client, let’s call her Anna, who had experienced a significant fall. Anna’s body had adapted by leaning to one side, an effort to alleviate discomfort. It was her body’s way of saying, “I remember, and I’m trying to protect us.” The path to releasing the Trauma Reflex is one of compassion and gentle reassurance to our bodies that it’s safe to let go, to realign, and to heal. It’s a journey we take together, step by step, creating a space where the body feels supported to release these protective patterns. This process isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding. By acknowledging and addressing the Trauma Reflex, we’re not just moving toward physical balance; we’re healing on a deeper, more holistic level. We’re telling our bodies, “Thank you for protecting me, but it’s okay to relax now. We’re safe.” The Trauma Reflex may be the cause of the following symptoms: SI pain sciatica scoliosis bursitis frozen shoulder tennis elbow uneven gait hip and knee pain/replacements carpal tunnel syndrome #TraumaReflex #SomaticMovementHealing #BodyResilience #CompassionateRecovery #MindBodyHealing #HealingJourney #PosturalBalance #ProtectivePatterns #ReleaseAndHeal #SomaticAwareness #HolisticWellbeing #SelfLoveJourney #MovementMatters #Somatics #SomaticMovement #ClinicalSomaticEducation #HealthyHealing #SomaYoga #SomaticReawakenings #InjuryRecovery #GentleMovement

My morning thoughts while sipping coffee ☕️ This is what I also share with our Massage and Reflexology students. Since I began studying pain, I came across this quote from on pain: "whatever the experiencing person says it is, existing whenever the experiencing person says it does". This has really stuck with me. Everyone behaves in such a way as to meet their needs. When a person describes their pain experience, these are not merely words. It is an expression of their need. With chronic pain, we should ask 1-why is pain a predominant feature of this person's life? 2-What are the needs that must be met for the suffering to ease? I believe to really understand this, the person must be free to express their lived experience from the first person perspective. As Massage therapists, ( or anyone that deals in Pain management ) we can only gain insights through deep listening within a supportive, encouraging and compassionate environment. Deep listening involves being present and paying full attention to the person. Not only do we hear their words but we see how they are embodied and delivered. Getting to know our own biases and beliefs allows us to let these go so that there is no 'filter', just pure awareness. This begins the therapeutic /healing process. #massagestudents #pain #adulteducation #listening

This is probably not the content you might expect on LinkedIn but after trying to use words to explain TRE - Tension & Trauma Release Exercises, it might just be easier for you to see what this practice is. Our autonomic nervous system takes care of a lot of things like sweating, peeing, crying to regulate our bodies everyday usually without needing our intervention. Neurogenic tremors are also something our bodies are capable of doing to release built up stress and tension, something we share with our furry friends and mammals. It's completely normal to allow and it's actually our social conditioning that tells us to stop this very important bodily function. Imagine growing up not being allowed to cry and the ripple effects of that (maybe we don't even have to stretch our imaginations there :) I've been shaking for 5 years and it has been life changing in big ways and small ways, like this practice happened after returning home where a car cut me off and honked because I was going too slow. I do it for a few min in between client calls to return myself into a grounded state and reset myself into the present moment for the next session. The practice has also helped me release deeply held tension and pain and incontinence in my pelvic floor. Most importantly it has helped me shift from a lifetime of survival, constantly switching from fight, flight and freeze into a much wider window of tolerance and more time in a truly calm, peaceful, regulated state of being where I can handle uncertainty and challenges with more resourcefulness, creativity and curiosity. If this is intriguing you can check out my website at nusqool.net/tre to learn more and book a 1:1 session. You can also learn and try this practice virtually in my upcoming 3 month Embodiment circle: Feeling safe enough to be your true self that starts next Thursday October 31 and runs until the end of January 2025. And in-person we will be holding a day retreat on Sunday November 24 at Wild Nature Retreat center which will include TRE and Forest Therapy. https://nusqool.net/events And yes it totally feels and looks weird but if it feels like something you'd like to try, please message me. #nervoussystemregulation #somatics #somaticleader #embodiment

Symptoms are messengers…are you listening? The body and mind are connected. Repressed or suppressed emotional pain can manifest as physical pain. Gabor Mate says, “the repression of emotion […] becomes a source of physiological illness later on.” This fabulous emotional pain chart shows how different emotions show up in the physical body (Credit: Centripetal Force Studio). Here are some examples of physical pain and their emotional root causes: 😒 Neck pain - who’s the pain in your neck? Where are you being stubborn or inflexible? 😒 Knee pain - where are you being inflexible or not wanting to give in? 😒UTI’s - what or who is pi**ing you off? 😒 Stomach pain - what in life are you not stomaching? 😒 Eye issues - where in life don’t you like what you see? Simple really, once you understand that we all function on a metaphysical level! That’s why I love kinesiology and the way it approaches the interconnectedness of body and mind. 🌱 It’s a refreshingly natural way of approaching healthcare that works with the innate wisdom of the body. Next time you have pain or another symptom, could you take a moment to be curious about its emotional connection? A good question to ask yourself is ‘what was going on when the pain first started?’ In my experience, there’s always a link! Find out more about kinesiology here: https://lnkd.in/eRZdNXG2 or DM me 😊 #emotionalhealth #whatthemindsuppressesthebodyexpresses #healthandwellbeing #holistichealing

Shifting focus away from physical pain in the body. As my life has called me into more presence due to physical pains, something that I’ve been heavily focused on with all of my one-on-one clients are small somatic practices. So if we’re feeling discomfort with the body, we can take a moment to think, “Alright, is there anywhere else in my body right now that is not in as much pain?“ And although it might seem silly to have it be an earlobe, your pinky finger or somewhere else “silly” on the body the point is to redirect our focus to that place. And then, on that place that isn’t experiencing physical pain, tapping into emotions, sensations, or anything else that might arise there. A lot of my sessions we’ve been doing gentle touch, paired with very light breathing. Not necessarily taking the deepest breath in the entire world like a lot of mediations do, but being aware of our breath, coming in through the nose and the coolness that it brings, and slowly letting it go out of the mouth and feeling the chest sink back in. You don’t necessarily need to be experiencing any type of chronic pain, to be using somatic healing on a daily basis. So this is a practice that’s open to everyone. And I would absolutely love to know if it helps you. So please feel free to send me an email back after you use this practice a few times. From my latest email! #somatichealing #somaticpractice #wellness
