This event reflects the everyday challenge of inclusivity and belongingness in cities like Addis Ababa. Can Addis Ababa blend Development with Inclusivity? While the city is rapidly expanding its infrastructure, professionals project the city's population to be 9 million by 2035, (1) Like the Chidimma controversy, one might ask: For whom is the city being developed? Past discussions around the Addis Ababa Master Plan have shown the significance of inclusive planning. (2) The corridor project is a lesson for community inclusion where no one is left behind. (3) Are we unintentionally pushing out the people who shaped the city's unique identity? (3) Cities often face dilemmas—development vs. preservation, plans vs. reality. Years ago, Addis Ababa built the majority of its roads for vehicles when data clearly showed most residents used Non-Motorized Transport. (4)   The city's recent street lighting project prioritizes aesthetic goals. Most streets lack safety and accessibility due to the absence of light. The question, “Who are we building our streets for?” caught the attention of many urbanists. Addis Ababa has the potential to use inclusive development and embrace heritage and diversity.  Here is what cities should consider. - Pubic spaces tell the story of the collective.  - Development projects should incorporate all. - Urban policies should encourage cultural protection.   How can one build an inclusive city?
