Please note: This video contains sensitive topics. This week, we stand with communities affected by Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). We had the privilege of hearing Emma, a customer at Estuary, bravely share her story of losing her son Jon at the age of 17 to inhaling butane gas. Emma's story is a stark reminder of the devastating impact substance abuse can have on individuals, families and communities. We hope this video raises awareness and encourages open conversations. FRANK is a support service that provides information about drugs, plus advice for people who use drugs, and their parents or carers. Contact the FRANK helpline on 0300 123 6600. Let's work together to create safer communities. #ASBAwarenessWeek #YoungPeople #SubstanceAbuse #MentalHealth #Support https://lnkd.in/dKiSZZTH

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2024, taking place from 18-24 November 2024, is vital for exempt accommodation providers as it highlights the impact of ASB on vulnerable tenants living in their supported accommodation and their communities. Exempt accommodations often house individuals facing challenges such as homelessness and mental health issues, and they are particularly sensitive to disruptions like vandalism or aggressive behaviour. The 2024 theme, #MakingCommunitiesSafer, promotes collaboration between housing providers, local authorities, and the police to address ASB. The week offers an opportunity for providers to engage in community efforts, raise awareness, and implement preventive strategies, ensuring safer environments for tenants while fostering better community relationships. https://lnkd.in/ekBwFMMq

So wonderful to see another 20 RtR DA Champions graduating from our accredited training. Welcome to the Network and don’t forget there’s a lot of opportunities to meet up virtually and face to face. Continue to learn and grow within your new role. Last years RtR DA Champions’ survey told us that on average 60% of those we train support 4 or more domestic abuse victims each year, AND, they support colleagues who are also supporting victims/survivors. On average that 10 victim/survivors each, every year. These new RtR DA Champions are likely to collectively support 120 individuals impacted by domestic abuse who aren’t currently accessing support. RtR DAChampions is evidence based, research aware and lived experience informed. Want to start to be part of the longest running, largest multi-agency DA network in the country? It’s easier and cheaper than you think for such an opportunity. Contact@reducingtherisk.org.uk

Eleven more women have died due to Family and Domestic Violence in Australia in 2024 compared to the same time last year. This is a devastating statistic showing the issue is getting worse, not better. There are ways in which we can help front-line services in combatting this issue - we need to teach young boys of today how to treat girls; we need to teach our future generations so we can break the cycle. One way in which AFLS have spoken to children about this issue is through this simple question game that you can see in this picture. You can do this in classrooms, community centres and more and it is a simple way to teach young boys and girls that violence is never okay. The questions are grouped into boy and girl questions, you then ask the questions to the assigned group and if they get it right, they get a point. The question shown 'Is shouting at a girl threatening behaviour?' is just an example of the types of questions asked to teach our youth to grow up showing everyone respect. Every little aspect of awareness and education helps. We would love to hear other ways people are teaching their children about this issue?

🏉 NRL Finals and Domestic Violence: The Hidden Crisis We Can’t Ignore As the excitement around the NRL finals builds, there’s an alarming statistic we can’t overlook. Research shows a significant link between major sporting events and spikes in domestic violence incidents. According to a 2022 study by the University of New South Wales, domestic violence rates can increase by 40% during high-profile sporting events like the NRL finals, particularly when alcohol is involved. This issue isn’t about the sport itself, but the behaviors that can be triggered during emotionally charged events. Stress, alcohol, and heightened emotions create a dangerous environment for many families. At Code Purple Refuge, we are here to support families affected by domestic violence, especially during vulnerable times like this. It’s crucial that as a community, we address this issue and ensure that support systems are in place for those who need it most. Let’s use this moment to raise awareness and take action. Together, we can help prevent this alarming trend from continuing. #NRLFinals #EndDomesticViolence #SupportSurvivors #CodePurple #CommunitySafety #BreakTheCycle
