Here is all the evidence you need for those of us that have always preferred the early morning flights... "Flights that take off in the early evening are nearly three times as likely to be significantly delayed as those in the early morning." "If you want to minimize lateness, it’s more important to consider departure time than airline. It’s true that Spirit Airlines has had more long delays than Delta Air Lines over the last five years, but a flight on Spirit that departs at 6 a.m. is less likely to be significantly delayed than a flight on Delta that takes off in the evening." $ALK - Alaskan Airlines Group just announced that they expect almost 500K travelers to fly between post-Thanksgiving Friday and Sunday, December 1st; with Sunday to be Alaskan's busiest day of the year. Flying (or long-distance driving) on Sunday, December1st? Since your dentist (root canal) and the DMV are closed, I guess you might as well do it..... While there are certain to be millions of upset airline customers over the holiday, investors in airline stocks are quite happy with their 52-week returns versus the S&P 500 Index, +31%: United ($UAL) +138%, Delta ($DAL) +75%, and Alaskan ($ALK) +42%, JetBlue ($JBLU) +45%, Frontier (ULCC) +43%Southwest ($LUV) +30%, and American ($AAL) +17%. We won't mention newly bankrupt Spirit ($SAVEQ).

This year we've heard of air travel horror stories, one after another. United Airlines is one of the airlines at the center of many of them with five incidents in March alone. Now they are releasing a statement to say these incidents are nothing to worry about, but they will be upping their safety precautions. At the end of the day, what I see is a Boeing problem. All of these were either on Boeing 737s or 777s, and United flies by percentage significantly more Boeings than many of its competitors. What do you think-- will you continue to fly United? #TravelSafety #Boeing #AirTravel #UnitedAirlines #Boeing737
