Glad to share our newly published report, "Investing in Inclusion”, a guide on disability inclusion for universities. I must say that I learned a lot while writing this report together with Daniella. For instance, I discovered that innovations such as the speech-to-text technology on your phone were initially developed for persons with disabilities. Today, speech-to-text offers value to a much broader audience. The lesson is simple: when we design systems and products to serve the varying needs of various individuals, we create room for serendipitous discovery. This, in turn, unlocks value for several groups, not just persons with disabilities. Viewed through this lense, inclusion is, indeed, a business opportunity. Hence the title, “Investing in Inclusion”. Check out the full report here: http://wrld.bg/xvWh50Ukl3q
On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we recognize that education is a fundamental right for everyone. Our new report, "Investing in Inclusion: A Guide to Disability-Inclusive Education for Higher Education Institutions," outlines actionable steps for institutions to break down barriers, promote equity, and create opportunities for students with disabilities. With practical tools like the Disability Inclusion and Accessibility Maturity Model, this report equips universities to create equitable learning environments for all. Inclusive education is not just a responsibility—it's also an opportunity to unlock potential and drive societal progress. 🌍 On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are thrilled to launch our report: “From Barriers to Bridges: A Roadmap for Inclusive School Education in India”. Inclusive education, a fundamental principle of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, envisions children with disabilities learning alongside their peers in supportive environments. Yet, the implementation of these mandates often falls short, leaving a critical gap between policy and practice. Our report addresses these challenges by focusing on five key areas: ✔️ Early identification and intervention ✔️ Streamlining disability certification ✔️ Ensuring accessible educational infrastructure ✔️ Building educator capacity ✔️ Providing reasonable accommodations With actionable recommendations in the form of a comprehensive implementation roadmap, this report aims to dismantle barriers and build bridges towards inclusive classrooms that empower every child. 🎓 Empowering Our Youth: Every child deserves an equal chance to learn and thrive. Education is the foundation upon which the future of our society is built, and we must ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all children, regardless of their abilities. Join the conversation as we delve into the significant and transformative role of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in shaping the educational landscape for children with disabilities. This pivotal legislation champions students' rights to receive appropriate services tailored to their individual needs and reshapes teaching strategies and learning environments to accommodate diverse learning styles. Through dialogue and action, we can create a more equitable educational system that empowers every student to reach their full potential. Let us work hand-in-hand with educators, policymakers, and advocates to foster a future where educational equality is not just an ideal but a reality. Together, we can truly make a difference. #EducationEquality #EmpowerStudents #IDEAAct #InclusiveEducation #FutureOfLearning

Have you heard about reverse inclusion? It's an approach where children (without disabilities) join special education classrooms or programs. By learning together, all students benefit from a more inclusive environment. They build mutual understanding, respect, and strong social connections. Imagine the power of students of all abilities supporting and learning from each other! Let’s support organisations working towards Quality Education for All and foster inclusive education for everyone. https://lnkd.in/d72xNWAA #QualityEducation #SustainabilityForAll #INDIAdonates #InclusiveEducation

As per the third edition of the survey by the National Center for Promotion of Employment of Disabled Peoples (NCPEDP), 27% of students with disabilities enrol in schools at the primary level, but only 0.5% reach secondary level and subsequent higher education. At Ashoka University we envision a future where higher education is accessible to everyone. #Accessibility #Inclusivity #AshokaUniversity Source: National Center for Promotion of Employment of Disabled Peoples.
