Did you know? Speeding was a contributing factor in almost 29 percent of all fatalities in 2021, an increase of 7.9 percent from 2020, and the correlation between speed and injury crashes is well documented. This is why achieving lower speeds is a key part of the FHWA’s Safe System Approach. (Source: “Safe System Approach for Speed Management,” FHWA) Experts from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA, World Bank, Virginia Tech, Federal Highway Administration, and Iowa State University will be at the 2nd IRSC to show how organizations in the US and internationally are tackling the problem of speed to increase safety for all road users. Don't miss it! Register for the 2nd Internation Road Safety Conference: https://lnkd.in/giGc_8DQ #speeding #IRSC2024 #roadsafety #engineering #conference

This level crossing awareness campaign successfully engaged various stakeholders to promote adherence to road traffic rules and enhance safety. Emphasizing the importance of following these regulations is crucial in safeguarding lives. Remember, safety is a collective effort - "My Safety, Your Safety, Our Safety." Together, we have the power to create a significant impact and ensure a safer environment for all. Always STOP 🛑 and OBSERVE before crossing railway 🛤 tracks when its safe to do so ONLY at designated legal level crossing. #SafetyCampaign #TogetherForSafety

MSDs (MusculoSkeletal Disorders) continue to plague the 🚛 industry. Before making abrupt movements, it is a good best practice to loosen up the muscle 💪 group(s) you will be using. Throwing a strap over a load, rolling a tarp, or cranking down the landing gear can all result in shoulder / rotator cuff / or neck injury 🏥, especially after driving all day/night. 🌞/ 🌌 When you hit that 3️⃣point contact to get out of our truck, remember that your body has been sedentary while you used up your HOS, and needs to be re-energized 🪫🔁🔋 Don’t rush to get that load delivered once you arrive at your destination, allow your body to warm up, and get the blood flowing so you will be ready for the next load. Get loose and stay safe & well! #SafeDriving #SafeDelivery #SafeBody #InjuryPrevention #NoMSDs #SafeAndWell #StaySafe #StayWell
If you've ever thrown a strap over a high flatbed load, you know how important your shoulders are to do the job. Plus, shoulders are pretty useful even to those who aren't flatbed truckers. This Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) video quickly presents information related to preserving this part of the body when at work. I recommend taking a look and consider using this and other AMTA videos as part of regular staff safety meetings and wherever else you see fit. --- Michelle Spacil Cliff Litke Andrew Barnes Kristin Picken, CTSP Chad Albert Kelsey Hipkin (she/her) Link: https://lnkd.in/eNGwkjr6

Very interesting results from the ESRA 3 survey results from Vias institute measuring public support for key road safety policy initiatives. Almost 80% of those sampled in the UK support a Blood Alcohol Concentration of ZERO for novice drivers licensed within the last 2 years. This was a similar level of support to many other EU countries, but importantly they have already adopted related policies. All countries except for the UK have a maximum BAC for novice drivers ≤0.05g.dl, with the majority at 0.02g/dl, in line with WHO Regional Office for Europe good practice road safety recommendations. From these results it seems that there is strong support in the UK for one of the key elements of Graduated Driving Licencing.

When it comes to road safety, the little things add up. By committing to safe practices — check the tires and clean the windshield before getting in the car, ditch the phone, use turn signals, yield to others, and move over and slow down for road workers — drivers can work together to create a safer community on the road. We'll be participating in IBTTA's Global Road Safety Week to raise awareness about best practices and share how Hexagon solutions can be part of your holistic approach to road safety. #BeSafeTogether #roadsafetyShow
