🔌 *Code of Conduct for Interoperability of Smart Energy Devices* 💡 The European Commission has launched a code of conduct for interoperability of smart energy devices. The goal is to facilitate demand-side flexibility, essential for stabilizing the electrical grid in the context of increased integration of renewable energies. Interoperable smart energy devices enable consumers to optimize their electricity consumption, benefiting both grid stability and households by limiting costs. This initial version of the Code of Conduct covers a range of devices with an energy label: • Household appliances: washing machines, tumble dryers, washer-dryers, dishwashers; • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), including heat pumps and water heating. It also includes the following "use cases": • Flexible startup • Energy consumption monitoring • Electric consumption limitation • Energy consumption management based on incentive schedules • Manual operation (providing necessary information in case of manual operation of the User Controlled Load) Unlike non-interoperable devices, which have specific control systems and services depending on their manufacturer, products compliant with the code of conduct will enable the provision of common services and the exchange of the same information to implement them. Smart-home energy-management system: this is how the smart Energy Manager distributes solar power in the home. Energy Manager was shoehorned into the palm-sized Engine Smart Home Controller. It connects with the photovoltaic system to intelligently and automatically distribute solar power throughout the smart home. Household appliances take precedence. Once they have all the power they need, the energy flows to the heat pump, with any remaining surplus going to the battery for storage.

🌱 How to Calculate Runtime for a 1000W Inverter on a 100Ah Battery 1️⃣ Step 1: Determine the Battery’s Usable Capacity The usable capacity depends on the battery type: For lead-acid batteries: 100Ah × 12V × 50% = 600Wh For lithium-ion batteries: 100Ah × 12V × 90% = 1080Wh 2️⃣ Step 2: Factor in Inverter Efficiency Inverters are not 100% efficient. A good-quality inverter typically has an efficiency of 85-95%. What’s the best smart solar charging solution for your home? ☀️ 🏡 There are two key routes to charging an EV with solar energy: A charging station with dedicated smart charging features, or; a charging station connected to a home energy management systems (HEMS) The best solution, as always, depends on your circumstances. If you only wish to optimize the solar connectivity of your home EV charger, then a dedicated smart charging feature (AKA, a single-appliance optimization tool) may be preferable.
