The more we invest in our own growth, the better equipped we are to support our teams and drive meaningful impact. With this in mind, I’ve recently upgraded my Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) certification from Certified Professional (CP) to 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 (𝐒𝐏). This journey has been one of deep learning and reflection of strategic HR leadership and broadened my perspective on how we can navigate complex challenges in today’s dynamic business environment. To truly lead transformative change within our organizations, we must first transform ourselves. You know it's a great webinar when you are STILL thinking about it weeks later! In March, I attended "Gallup Research on the Power of Recognition: A Toolkit to Impact Behavior Shifts" which was hosted by Workhuman. I highly recommend this quick 1 hour learning to #ChangeManagers, #HR, and #Leadership. Here are some of my key takeaways: 💡Firstly, recognition the RIGHT thing to do (obviously). And if you need more reasons, Gallup research shows that #strategicrecognition results in higher productivity, lower safety incidents / absenteeism and huge cost savings. 💡Having leaders model the behaviors you want to see often and consistently while publicly reinforcing them with strategic recognition is key to success. (Not a surprise for us #changeleaders that are familiar with Prosci research which teaches us that active & visible sponsorship is the top contributor is critical for successful projects). 💡The "blueprint" for giving strategic recognition is to give praise that is: matched & aligned with organizational goals, right sized for the effort, equitable, and personalized & specific.
