NEWS: Fully funded support programme for female founders. It started in a pub 3 months ago and today we’re open for registrations for a fully funded business support programme for female solopreneurs. Rise and Thrive is a new, five-week programme designed specifically for female founders, creatives and changemakers who are struggling to develop a financially sustainable business model. With a big focus on practical advice and implementation support, our aim is to equip the women who take part with the skills they need to grow a thriving business. The programme will cover: ⚡️ How to define your core offer and value proposition ⚡️ Pricing models ⚡️ How to stand out from the competition ⚡️ Creating an actionable marketing plan ⚡️ Completing a one-page business plan Clare Griffiths, FRSA and I are both passionate about helping women to thrive in their business. But we both felt frustrated with the lack of properly funded support options designed for women owned businesses. So, with the help of feedback from our combined community, we decided to create something that women actually wanted and needed to get their businesses off the starting blocks. This programme brings together our combined expertise in business planning and marketing, along with our experience of serving women owned businesses which spans over two decades. Thanks to the generous support of Wendy Mathias and Another Way Women’s Foundation, we can offer 15 women the chance to join us in September for the Rise & Thrive programme at no cost. Yet another discrepancy. Before my coffee could go cold, I received yet another free speaking opportunity, this time through LinkedIn. (This individual must not have been one of the 20,000 impressions of my recent post: #boycottingInternationalWomensDay.) After learning this was not a paid opportunity, and they do not pay professional speakers or any speakers, as ... "We are just a start-up and still taking baby steps. But Considering your expertise, we will give you a better discount on the Registration Fee." My response: Thanks, XXXX; unfortunately, I will have to decline. Your conference aims to "break down barriers that have historically held women back and to foster a global network of women who build bridges toward a brighter future." One of women's most prominent challenges is being paid their worth. As a person who makes my living and feeds my family through speaking, they would starve based on the number of "speak for free to empower women" conferences I get asked to speak at. Empowering women is my core value. My foundation provides scholarships to women in developing countries. I invest considerable time, energy, and expertise in my podcast to empower and amplify women's voices, businesses, and impact. But somewhere, I need to be valued (and PAID) for my expertise. I would love to see a conference focusing on women paying their speakers, particularly those who spend their lives researching, crafting, and perfecting stage mastery - leaving audiences engaged and empowered. Paying speakers would empower the audience and the professional speakers at your conference! That is the conference I will support. I would also share that message to acquire sponsors for the speaker budget. Let's not just talk about DEI; let's do it! When it comes to business, women don’t want coffee and biscuits. What we really need is real, tangible support. I’m talking about the kind that goes beyond the surface level. A morning event with some snacks is nice, and while it’s great to connect with extremely talented women, there’s a whole ecosystem around these events that’s completely missing. We often see a lot of activity during the event, but what about before and after? Too often, there’s nothing – just a vacuum. We need sustained engagement, actionable support, and follow-through that extends beyond a single meet-up. We need funding. We need advising. We need mentoring. We need collaboration. But it has to be more than just a one-off conversation. Networking should go hand-in-hand with talent development, it should be an ongoing relationship, where advice and support are continuously available. When women succeed in business, the ripple effects are profound. Women-led businesses often prioritise community well-being. We tend to create enterprises that not only aim for profit but also address social and environmental issues. When women succeed, they reinvest in their communities. Studies show that women are more likely to support local schools, healthcare, and other community services. Women in business serve as role models and mentors to the next generation. When young girls see women leading, it expands their horizons and aspirations. Women bring unique insights and approaches to problem-solving that are often overlooked in male-dominated industries. This diversity strengthens the society and the economy and, by extension, the local communities they serve. I am pushing for more than just coffee and biscuits, because when women thrive, our local communities become stronger. Now, let me share a little secret: there’s something incredibly exciting on the horizon. It’s a project designed to tackle these very issues we’ve been talking about – the before, the after, and everything in between. Listening to a radio report about a new initiative in the UK- Invest in Women Taskforce. One of the stats that stuck out from the new report - in the UK in 2020, 80% of investment went to male-only or male-dominated businesses - in 2023 it was UP to 86% in such businesses with only 1.8% of investment going to #womeninbusiness 😲 So a big shout out to AwakenHub AwakenHub for their vision and support for #femalefounders. Founded in 2022, and our participation in the first #SheGenerate programme we have been supported by them and the incredible network of over 3000 women they have brought together. Stronger Together: The Power of Support Throughout Our Lives Last night's Gray Tham’s "50 and Wiser" event celebrating the achievements of incredible women over 50 was a powerful reminder of something fundamental: we are social creatures. Humans aren't meant to go it alone. Think about it. From the moment we're born, we rely on the love and support of others. As we navigate life's triumphs and challenges, strong connections act as a safety net, a source of encouragement, and a wellspring of strength. This need for connection doesn't fade with age. The women at the "50 and Wiser" event perfectly exemplified this. Their shared experiences, their featured stories in the "50 and Wiser" book are all testaments to the power of community. So, why is support so crucial? Here's the thing: life throws us curveballs. I like to describe it as we are riding the wave of life with all its highs and lows. We face setbacks, grapple with self-doubt, and celebrate victories big and small. Having a network of like minded people who believe in us, who listen without judgment, and who cheer us on makes all the difference. Support can boost our confidence, help us bounce back from challenges, and fuel our motivation to keep growing. It can also be a source of comfort and joy, reminding us that we're not alone in this journey called life. Having family, friends and colleagues around can inspire and uplift us. They help celebrate each other's wins, and offer a shoulder to lean on during tough times. Let's embrace the power of support throughout our lives. ✨ Transforming Lives through Fitness and Sisterhood ✨  💪 Healthy Women started as a small initiative and is now an organization transforming young women's lives in Stockholm and its suburbs. 💡 The founder Susan Dahlbeck had a dream: to create safe spaces for young women to engage in fitness and community. With the Reach for Change incubator, Healthy Women grew from a local effort to a network that inspires thousands through social media and weekly training for 250+ participants. 💬 “The incubator pushed me to tackle new challenges,” Susan shares.
