As the latest issue of theDelivery.World - read it here https://bit.ly/3yodiQK - pinpointed, the seventh Food On Demand Conference in Las Vegas earlier this month, brought together nearly 1,000 restaurant delivery professionals, fostering networking and idea exchange. One key theme, and the subject of much discussion, was the recognition that restaurant delivery faces ongoing disruption and change, with restaurants grappling with what they see as flaws in the third-party delivery model: high commission rates (and other charges), the lack of transparency about customers, and limited access to information. At the same time, the shift to delivery, with its emphasis on technology, challenges traditional people-focused restaurant business models. Nevertheless, many restaurants are now exploring first-party delivery to mitigate the flaws in third-party delivery. As restaurants adapt by integrating tech expertise, constant dialogue between all stakeholders is essential for navigating this evolving landscape.
