Did you know more than 6,000 Kansas children and teens are in the foster care system – with approximately 1,300 in Sedgwick County alone? Our community and these youth desperately need compassionate and caring families to open their hearts and homes. What difference could you make as a foster parent? When children and teens cannot live with their biological parents, you could bridge the gap to support the child's physical, emotional, and basic living needs. Some of these needs include food, clothing, shelter, and general care, in a safe and nurturing environment. Could you provide these resources? You have the power to change a child’s life. Find your fit and become a foster parent today: https://lnkd.in/g6eZ_tuG. #EmberHope #FosterCare #NonProfit #InspirePositiveChange #Donate #GiveAGift #ChangeALifeWithGiving #RespiteCare #FosterParents #BeTheOne2Foster #FosterCareKansas

7:2 - Did you know? On average, children in care move SEVEN times in TWO years. Children in foster care are constantly being uprooted, further increasing their trauma. They are not able to thrive -academically, mentally, or relationally - when they’re simply trying to survive. The only way to heal trauma is through consistent, healthy relationships. They’re essential to the outcomes for that one child, and they’re essential to the outcome of our community. Could you be that healthy grown-up in a child's life? Stability for a child experiencing foster care can make all the difference in their academic outcomes. With only 50% graduating high school, we know we can do better. 👏 If kids have predictability and consistent, trusted grown-ups they know then can depend on, their brains and bodies can focus on education and other important milestones in their lives. Kids in care have powerful potential. When they are SEEN, respected, LOVED - they can THRIVE. 💫 Change the way foster care is experienced - get involved today: https://lnkd.in/gRjBBwSx *Statistical resources can be found at https://lnkd.in/gDWtFTaH #changethestats #nationalfostercaremonth #fostercare #foster #fostercareawareness #mentor #volunteer #community #fostercarecommunity #kinship #kinshipcare #lovebox #daretodream #mentorship #relationalpermenance #homelessness #incarceration #mentalhealth #nonprofit #fostercarenonprofit #donate

National statistics for kids aging out of the foster system are harsh: 👉 fewer than half will graduate high school Within a year of aging out of the foster system: 👉 half will either be incarcerated or homeless 👉 and only 2% will complete college 👏 We know it doesn’t have to be this way. 👏 We invest in simple solutions- keeping kids as close to their community of origin as possible, sustaining relationships across moves into and out of foster care, and connection with caring, consistent mentors. These solutions can impact such big things - mental health, feelings of self-worth, and graduation rates. Be a part of the solution - invest in kids experiencing foster care today: olympicangels.org/donate None of this happens without donations - we can't do it without YOU. #foster #fostercare #fostercarenonprofit #fostercarecommunity #nonprofit #community #donate #invest #changethestats #volunteer #mentor #lovebox #daretodream #olympicangels #nationalangels #olympicpeninsula #graduation #graduationrates #incarceration #homelessness

Each year, approximately 900 youth will age out of the Arizona foster care system. Without an effective safety net and support network to guide them through the next chapter of their lives, the odds are not in their favor: - 40% will become homeless within 18 months of leaving care - 67% won't graduate high school - 50% won't have gainful employment by age 24 Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation is the critical safety and support network these youth turn to. Your donations are critical in helping to change their story by providing critical employment, education, and career development services so that they can transition successfully to independence. On this AZ Gives Day, transform a young person's life by donating to AFFCF: azgives.org/affcf. #ArizonaGivesDay #AZGivesDay #AFFCF #azffcf #fostercare #childhoodactivities #KeystoSuccess #postsecondaryprograms #affcf40thanniversary #40yearsofimpact #youwinkidswin

I am very grateful and proud of the Women's Initiative from TLC Engineering Solutions for supporting the Bag of Hope Project this month. The Bag of Hope initiative aims to provide the resources necessary for Foster Children aging out of the foster care system. Here are some studies that will help understand why these Foster Children need the help of the community. Some studies have estimated the cost of incarcerating youth who have been involved in the foster care system. The numbers are staggering when it comes to kids aging out of the care system without resources, often leading to homelessness or incarceration. For example, a 2016 report by the Juvenile Law Center estimated that in Pennsylvania, the cost of incarcerating a young adult who had been involved in the foster care system was approximately $324 per day, or $118,260 per year. The report noted that this cost is significantly higher than the cost of providing community-based alternatives to incarceration. According to a report by the Utah Juvenile Justice Working Group, the average daily cost of incarcerating youth in a Utah detention center was approximately $289 daily in 2018. This figure includes the cost of direct care and custody, education, and healthcare services. The state spends more than $8,000 per month on each youth incarcerated. What if we could avoid this situation in our community? This is the mission of the Hope Foundation for Foster Youth Housing. We want to be the support these young people need and provide them with the tools to become self-reliant, both physically and emotionally, as well as financially. Please, friends, if you can share and support our cause, you will make a difference in this nation. I am counting on you. As a former foster child myself, I know the challenges these young people face every day of their lives since being placed in the system and aging out. They need us. #BagOfHope #FosterCareSupport #YouthEmpowerment #CommunitySupport #HopeFoundation #AgingOut #EndYouthIncarceration #SupportOurYouth #ChangeLives #MakeADifference
