At a time when sustainability is becoming ever more complex, it is great to see how simple and powerful it can be. I popped into Deer Island Rum and heard first hand the story of this fantastic enterprise built upon values and purpose we can all relate to. https://lnkd.in/e4QGMmqi

As per my earlier post this is the Made in Stoke initiative to which Julie alerted me. My aim is to try to tie together my Green Legistics SoloPreneurs Connexions in the Potteries ; the East of England ( inc of course here in South South West Herts) and Humber because they all have access to the Freeport ( hopefully Greenport) Triangle of Free Trade Zones at:- Humber Sea Port at Immingham Felixstowe Sea Port at Harwich East Midlands Air Port at Nottingham : Derby The potential to export goods and services abroad and turn our Gross Domestic Product from a negative (-) to a plus (+) imports/ exports wise post Brexit is achievable big time but commonality of approach for SoloPreneurs especially in the Sustainability Sector is pretty vital ….but all it takes is some joined up thinking of which initiatives such as “ Made in Stoke” are great examples Hope this helps:- https://lnkd.in/dHrXMRHJ

Is it just me? Fam, nature has a beautiful way of fostering invaluable lessons for mankind. So, I took the video attached to this post a few minutes after getting into the office for the love of the rain, but moments later, I found myself delving into deep thoughts. Let's call this post - Raindrops to Oceans. There are valuable lessons about the potency of teamwork that we can learn from raindrops and apply in our workplace to drive innovation and success. They say the devil is in the details, but God and blessings are in the details too. Picture this, 1. When it rains, it starts as individual drops. 2. Alone, a single droplet is insignificant. 3. Raindrops come in different sizes and formless. 3. If you look closely at the video, you can see the raindrops crushing on the ground into even smaller droplets. 4. The same droplets start uniting and forming rivulets into smaller streams then becoming smaller ponds on the ground. 5. Now, I just started imagining how these small droplets continue merging and becoming rivers, dams, and oceans - Isn't that amazing? Likewise, teamwork and collaboration have the same potential and potency that mirrors this journey, from a single raindrop to a mighty ocean both in professional and personal lives. Alone, one can feel small or insignificant in making a lasting impact but with the right determination and drive to contribute, willingness to crush - lose part of your identity, unite our efforts, and leverage the diversity of our strengths we become a formidable force that can achieve remarkable feats. The million-dollar question is how can we walk this journey. 1. Embrace diversity - Just like raindrops, humans come in different sizes and shapes. It's our different skills, backgrounds, and expertise that can enable us to tackle complex challenges more effectively. 2. Build productive networks - Establishing strong networks is crucial in amplifying our efforts and impacting our collective goals just like streams merging into rivers. We must create meaningful networks both within and beyond our imaginary borders (organizations/countries) fostering trust and communication to drive required progress. 3. Align towards a common goal - Successful collaboration is anchored on the proper alignment of organizational goals and objectives much like rain converging towards a common destination. Goals should be clearly defined for the team and tasks rightfully distributed. 4. Adapt and evolve - It is paramount that we adapt to the rapidly ever-changing environments that we now live in to effectively meet the current and future needs of businesses. 5. Thinking big and having a larger long-term vision - Reflect on the journey starting with the end to devise ways of properly navigating through with the required tools. Our collective efforts can lead to tremendous achievements. Let's embrace the wisdom of nature and work towards creating a better future just as raindrops transform into oceans.

Would building new homes result in a decrease in housing prices? Should we be repurposing the empty units and buildings in Canary Wharf to help resolve the housing crisis? What is the value of biodiversity in London? How does degrowth resolve issues such as outdated and inefficient housing stock? Can we introduce passive design to London construction and how do you future proof this so that it still functions in a rapidly changing climate? Just a few of the questions we debated over Wednesday afternoon as part of EnviroBuild's workshop hosted by Play the City. A real afternoon of debate and learning where I think everyone there left with new ideas and pondering alternative views. Proof that collaborative and serious gaming is a fantastic way to create a safe space for these important questions to be asked and debated. A huge thank you to all the participants who's enthusiasm created a real buzz of innovation and to our very generous experts and facilitators for guiding the discussion. Join the conversation and let us know your thoughts on the questions above or propose your own question. The Corporate Real Estate market is changing. Getting people to come back to the office is hard. Micro-Farms are becoming a new office amenity. With the help of your own on-site farmers market, you can encourage your team to come back into the office, educate them on sustainable farming, and encourage healthier eating habits. Here’s how ⤵️ ✅ Team-building Activities ↳ Engage in cooking classes and sustainability workshops. Activities are exclusive to on-site participation. ✅ Community Engagement ↳ Foster community through team activities and shared meals, enhancing workplace connection. ✅ On-site Plant & Crop Maintenance ↳ Experience firsthand the journey from seed to plate, enriching understanding of produce cultivation. ✅ Skill Development ↳ Learn valuable skills in planting, harvesting, and sales, unavailable in remote settings. Micro-Farms extend much further than providing a sustainable alternative to traditional farming methods. They are creating next-generation workplaces and encouraging businesses to focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives. Where your team, your business & your clients all can bond over the shared love for fresh food. (All whilst creating a positive work atmosphere where employees' health is given first priority!) If you’re interested in learning more about how we can support your business… 📨 Drop me a DM & lets discuss! If not, check out how Zurich Insurance is doing this firsthand & using its Micro-Farm to not only transform its food. But also its workplace ⤵️
