The Elevate Labs team looks like Taylor Swift in this light (we’re loving it). Our Social Committee always brings a little extra joy to the month, and August (🎶 ) was no exception. Last week, our most tortured poets (the Elevate Swifties) took some time out of the day to sing, dance, deep dive, and make some *dazzling* friendship bracelets. We’re keeping the joy of this Eras Tour-inspired event going a little longer by trading bracelets, too, because who says remote teams have to feel remote? (𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘣𝘰𝘹!) This is Elevate Labs (Taylor’s Version). #InsideElevate

Over the course of a year, the #ConnectedWellbeing Initiative Impact Studio brought together 11 teams developing youth-serving innovations that foster youth and community wellbeing through strengths-based, socially-connected, and youth-centered approaches. 💡💙 Impact Studio teams were offered tailored advising, capacity building opportunities, and cross-sector connections to accelerate impact and build shared purpose. "Harnessing tech for equity and belonging: Programs like the Race, Abolition, and AI (RAAI) project (Tiera Tanksley), ListoAmerica’s remote work (The Clubhouse Network), Maven Youth, and Games for Change Learn are committed to empowering youth to design and re-imagine digital tools and spaces to make important changes to who technology is serving and how. Last week was wild. I pitched at TechRise Chicago and was named Runner Up! 🎉 Thank you to P33 Chicago, TechRise, and William Blair for the incredible opportunity and the judges from GSV Ventures and Reach Capital for their insightful questions. I was honored to be included in this group of fearless women building creative solutions to important problems. The whole process was incredibly supportive and a fantastic learning experience. Key Takeaways: 🌬 Breathe. It’s tough to balance being thorough and concise. Lean into what matters. Your purpose and what you’re building are bigger than your anxiety. Breathe. ♻ Iterate. The first version is always the roughest; that's how you get better. Keep listening, keep learning, and keep iterating. Aim to get 1% better every day. 💃 Be a Joyful Warrior. There’s a misconception that only serious people can drive positive change. I disagree. This is the hardest job I’ve ever had, but it’s also the most fun I've ever had in doing a job. I have a clear vision, I’m more driven, and I laugh more than ever before. I love what I am doing, and I am proud of it. Kamala Harris told us to be joyful warriors in our pursuits (mine being wealth-building equality of opportunity through education & personalization). My response will forever be, “Yes, ma’am.” Competitive situations are inevitable, but they reveal our willingness to gracefully push through. Each challenge is an opportunity to grow, learn, and demonstrate resilience. I embrace these moments as they shape me into a stronger and more determined person. #investlikeafox #grateful

One of the biggest differentiators in a successful startup team is the diversity in the experiences of the team. NYC uniquely draws people from all backgrounds, industries, and cultures. When building your team in the city, you tap into various experiences and life stories. Engineers often reflect a wide range of personal experiences, interests, and cultural exposures they bring to their work. The multi-disciplinary backgrounds directly contribute to your product. But that’s not all. They also shape how your team grows together. Learning from each member builds a bond that forms the company’s character. A well-built company character is the first step to ownership and winning. Our roadmap meetings at Unthread can get intense. Everyone brings something new to the table, and each person’s perspective comes from a wealth of experience across industries and cultures. Only in NYC can you find this level of diverse top-tier talent anywhere in the world. Next week, we’ll dive deeper into how NYC plays a part in our customer stories.

"I just fired our tech team." The message landed in my inbox at 2 AM from a fellow founder. 6 months of work. Back to square one. --- The Silent Weight Every Non-Technical Founder Carries Remember that first meeting? The excitement. The promises. The crystal-clear roadmap. Everything felt possible. Then reality crept in. Your messages wait longer for replies. Technical explanations grow foggy. You spot issues, but stay quiet. After all, they're the experts. --- That knot in your stomach when you think about switching teams? I know it well. The fear that the next partner might be worse keeps you locked in a dance you've grown to dread. --- But here's the truth: • Your intuition matters • Those "naive" questions deserve answers • Your vision deserves better than half-finished features True technical partners light your path. They don't keep you in the dark. #StartupJourney #FounderLife #TechPartnership
