🏌️♂️🌟 We recently shared some #BTS of our team outing to Top Golf. While that day was for fun and connection, we also needed to brush up our skills for the APWA Michigan Chapter Tom Trice Scholarship Golf Outing in Marshall, MI which took place over the weekend. It was an incredible day for the four person scramble. There were also course contests and fun door prizes. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals while supporting a worthy cause while enjoying the early fall air. We're proud to contribute to a program that helps empower the next generation of public works leaders. A big thank you to the organizers and everyone who participated! A recent trip to Harvard Business School to give a talk on organizational compliance and corporate crime enforcement included a walk across the Charles River overlooking the Weld Boathouse. That got me thinking about the first American intercollegiate sporting event: the Harvard-Yale Boat Race. Did you know that the race was beset by cheating, fueled by corporate interests? Here's how Nathaniel Grow and I describe it in our paper, Assessing the NCAA as a Compliance Organization (Wis. L. Rev. 2021)(https://lnkd.in/gmvw-CTG): >>The United States’ first intercollegiate athletic competition was held in 1852, when two teams of rowers—one from Harvard and the other from Yale—met at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Although no one could have predicted it at the time, that first contest foreshadowed several trends in intercollegiate athletics that remain in place up to the present day. First, the race was heavily intertwined with commercial interests. Indeed, the regatta itself was coordinated by a railroad company to promote rail travel to Lake Winnipesaukee, with the competitors promised an all-expenses-paid, two-week vacation in exchange for participating in the race. After the victorious Harvard rowers accepted their prize of a pair of silver-tipped oars, they thanked the organizers for providing such “sumptuous entertainment at the best of hotels.” Second, the competition was rife with cheating, as both teams allegedly employed non-student, professional rowers in an attempt to secure a leg-up on the other squad. A water-soaked board even found its way into the path of the leading boat and slowed it down for a moment, an obstacle that may have been placed there by one of the many spectators wagering heavily on the competition.<< Not sure what it says that my talk was as timely in 2024 as it would have been in 1852. #corporatecrime #compliance #rowing #harvard #yale #intercollegiatesports #BEB

🎓 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Daniel Jones How many years have you been at Rancho Christian? 4 What school activities did you participate in while at Rancho Christian? Athletics, BSU, Chapel, Community Service. Favorite Bible Verse: John 15:4-8 "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Plans after Graduation: Will be attending and playing football at Western New Mexico University #WeAreRancho #Classof2024

Understand that the work you’re doing NOW is what sets up the work you do NEXT! Be great at where you are now…consistently! Edward Jones II is 💯% right, we are always looking to see who’s making strides in familiar spaces to see that impact made at the next level
DO THE WORK WHERE YOU ARE! One of the best ways to get noticed by others is being great where you are currenlty in your career. There are multiple stories about this, but one of my favorite stories in regard to "being where your feet are" is Alexander Martin. He started in student affairs at the U, then transitioned to athletics, and the Miami Dolphins saw the impact he was having in his city in the roles he was in. Don't feel discouraged where you are, great impact is always noticed. Keep doing the work. Watch more here: https://lnkd.in/gYz_2dat #PlayerDevelopment #BeWhereYourFeetAre #DoTheWork #CareerGrowth

Amp Your Content Ltd were in Northern Ireland recently helping Fuse PR tell the story of the Chase football coaching programme, with NI senior women's star Simone Magill. National team captain Magill surprised her brother Kris – who has been with the Cookstown-based club from a young age – as he led an under-8 girls’ session, before the pair reflected on the amazing impact he’s had on her and many others in the local community. The reunion comes after Chase and the Home Nations Football Associations teamed up to create the Chase football coaching programme – which provides fully funded access to 2,900 introductory coaching qualifications and 85 professional coaching bursaries to support individuals from low-income backgrounds across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. In providing access to fully funded coaching qualifications, Chase is helping more people from low-income communities unlock their potential, increasing representation in coaching to inspire future generations, and helping to build pathways towards future employment.
