Reflecting on my career transition from military discipline to self-made success in network marketing and investing, it struck me how often we equate a good life exclusively with financial success. Yet, the epiphany was realizing that the zenith of achievement is not merely accumulating wealth, but earning the luxury of time to enjoy that wealth. Hey connections, I'm a 22 years old who wants to make a difference. Still early in my journey, but eager to achieve more. Recently, as I lay awake one night, I couldn't shake the thought of how time is passing too fast and how I cannot do anything about it. From that moment, I resolved to dedicate the next year to achieve some goals. Starting from July 1st, 2024, I've committed to dedicating myself to the following goals: 1⃣ Apart from preparing for my CFA exam, I will learn one new skill or undertake a project each month, spanning diverse fields. 2️⃣ Prioritizing my health is much more important, especially after being diagnosed with PCOD. Achieving my goals is my number one priority. I am personally forgoing watching 9 hours of football every Saturday and another 9 hours of football on Sunday knowing that 18 hours a week compounded over about 20 to 25 weeks to keep numbers even would put my study hours for the Level 1 CFA exam well above the target range of study time. This being said, those are just weekend numbers. I put in hours in the weekday too before and after work. The point I’m making is that I am willing to make the necessary sacrifices in my life to enhance my career, skillset, and future earnings because I choose to invest in myself using effective time management skills. It takes discipline, heart, and faith to truly achieve a goal. This is what I will do, and I won’t stop because of my clear focus and vision. As a college coach for twenty years, I acted as the CEO of my department—like I owned it. Every mistake. Every win. I led our student-athletes and put my assistants in positions to grow their leadership. But when I transitioned careers, I felt this pressure to "act differently" because I was supposed to follow traditional financial advice. The truth is, the analogy between sports and financial practices is clear to me now—success comes from discipline, strategy, and execution. I was told to “be humble,” and it was some of the worst advice I ever received. In sales, being humble keeps the focus on *you*. But my life's work has been getting people to achieve things they never thought possible. That didn't happen by being humble. It happened because I was BOLD for other people.
