The holidays are a time to reflect, give back, and make a difference—and we’re in the final stretch of supporting Firefly Children & Family Alliance’s Hope for the Holidays campaign. At Trustpointe, we’ve made it a tradition to fill our donation box with contributions from clients, neighbors, and friends to help families in need. 👶👧🧒 The Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support and resources to children and families who have experienced trauma or abuse. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups. Inspire their imaginations and provide an escape into the world of storytelling. 3️⃣ Clothing and Accessories: Children and teens often need new clothes due to growth or changes in their circumstances. Why do we do what we do? Imagine - for most wanting to play sports, be active, invest in their physical health- you go to the store and purchase a bike, a bat, a glove, a basketball, tennis racket, shoes or whatever you need and you get out on that court, field, track, or go to the gym and enjoy what you love doing. For others it’s not that easy. It requires adaptive equipment that unfortunately costs THOUSANDS and can’t be picked up at your local department store and inclusive fitness opportunities that are designed for those who face challenges or obstacles to promote achieving their goals. No child or person deserves to sit on the sidelines simply because they don’t have the means to participate. The work of the IM ABLE Foundation is vital to help adaptive individuals not only physically, but truly impacts them mentally, emotionally and socially when given the opportunity to participate, to succeed, and to achieve their goals. EVERY person or business who invests in our work recognizes the value and worth of those who just need a little help. The reward- the tears of joy, the endless smiles, the contagious laughter and the confidence boost every adaptive individual shares as those barriers are broken. Pawsitively Bears Day #1: The inception of Teddy Bears with Heart traces back to a personal challenge during my divorce. Faced with the dilemma of what to do with 450 bears stored in boxes that I had collected through the beanie bear craze, a conversation with a friend who happened to be a fire captain sparked the initiative. I didn't want to throw the bears away, he volunteered to take a few off of my hands. I then started thinking, who else could use bears so I started looking. I have always been one of those who "see a need, fill a need" kind of people. As TBWH grew we decided we wanted to be a non-profit. At the time it cost a lot so I did some online research and found Good Bears of the World. They have been in business since the 70s and did exactly what I wanted to do. I contacted them and they agreed to let us be a Den. Since 2008 we have given out over 200,000 stuffed animals and are gifting to first responders and other agencies in over six counties, not to mention throughout the U.S. and Internationally, when we can. The primary mission of Teddy Bears with Heart is to provide comfort to children in crisis, the forgotten elderly, and the terminally ill. Importantly, TBWH emphasizes our commitment to being a resource during times of genuine need, steering away from serving as mere Christmas gifts, prizes, or incentives. Book ownership is crucial to shaping our future because it equips children with the tools for success. Love-based support is essential for each of us, from the first steps to the whole journey through life. Especially, during challenges or difficult times that come into our lives sometimes gradually and sometimes rapidly. As a mother of four children myself, I can confirm that isolation is real. As parents or caregivers, I believe that we should teach our children as early as possible that emotions are real. Thus, they will be able to identify and express their feelings and ask for support as needed. Would love to see more curricula centered on parenting, communication, leadership, emotions, etc. which all could be linked to history, science, math, or language classes.
