Are you networking wrong? What is the purpose of networking, anyway? If you answered “To tell people why they should hire me,” you’re probably doing it wrong. The most successful networkers build genuine relationships and give more than they receive. They go beyond thinking, “What’s in it for me?” to ask “How can I help?” Next time you’re at a networking event, do more listening than speaking. Find out what people need and how you can help them get it. Maybe it’s as simple as introducing them to someone else in your network! By being generous with your resources, you can build relationships and a reputation for being selfless rather than self-serving. #Networking #CareerAdvice

Networking is not solely the domain of extroverts. People often have a more favorable view of us than we perceive. Overcome self-doubt and focus on initiating conversations and forming connections. Participate in activities that support your networking objectives. Rather than fixating on making contacts, seek out relevant events, join professional organizations, and engage in initiatives that resonate with you. Essentially, broaden your networking while enjoying what you do. Many believe that our closest relationships are the most beneficial; however, it is often these weaker connections, those we don’t know, that ultimately can lead to job opportunities.
