Few weeks ago, I had shared that having The Event Industry listed under Travel and Tourism in the hospitality industry chart could be the reason it doesn't attract many opportunities. Link attached (https://lnkd.in/dKZxv56i) You can imagine my joy when I came across an article from far away Europe that shares the same ideology that the event industry should be a Stand-alone industry. Not only that, they are also conducting research to show that the event industry is a creative industry as well and I can't wait to read the outcome of the research. A discussion I have also had with creative groups in the past as to why the event industry is being sidelined in that sector as well. Even if not all sectors in the Event industry but the decorators that use their creativity to transform venues should at least be included in the creative sector discussion. Another area to address is engaging the Event industry in the informal sector discussion because I almost went nuts a few days ago when someone told me that, he didn't see the need to involve the event industry in the research they did for the informal sector because the event industry impact is negligible in the society 🙆♀️🙆♀️ (I will share the full story one day) To reiterate, the event industry should be a Stand-alone industry, be included in creative and informal sector discussion as it plays a role in helping curb unemployment in the society.
