🌟This #GivingTuesday We Can Help Wisconsinites Find Justice 🌟 Imagine being trapped with an abusive spouse in your remote rural home. For years, "Clara's" husband isolated her, abused her, and threatened her with death if she were to leave him. It was #CivilLegalAid that helped Clara finally divorce her abuser, reclaim her assets, and rebuild her life. We hear many stories like this from the organizations we fund. (Though "Clara" isn't her real name, this woman is a real, very recent client of one of our grant recipients.) Right now, critical federal funding for civil legal aid in Wisconsin is disappearing. **Your donation can change lives.** The Wisconsin Trust Account Foundation (WisTAF) connects people facing life-altering legal challenges with the professional help they need to seek fair solutions. Every contribution helps someone: - Escape domestic violence… - Secure their children’s safety… - Address obstacles to getting employed … - Or in other ways, protect their rights & rebuild their future Give today and be a lifeline for someone in need. Donate now: https://lnkd.in/gUPGvpZf Together, we can ensure NO ONE in Wisconsin faces injustice alone. #AccessToJustice #GivingTuesday #WisconsinCares #SocialJustice #CommunitySupport #CivilLegalAid #LegalAid

Around 74% of low-income households in the U.S. have faced at least one civil legal issue, according to the 2022 Justice Gap Study. Alarmingly, 71% of these issues received inadequate or no legal help. This highlights the gap in access to legal assistance among those who need it most, and emphasizes the important role donations make in supporting free legal services. While the road ahead may be challenging, advocates and volunteers are here to help our clients every step of the way. Please consider donating to Bet Tzedek to help us continue to provide legal support for marginalized communities: https://lnkd.in/gF65AUzh

Appearing in the family court in relation to your own child is utterly terrifying - I remember it well. However, many mums that we support through Mums In Need, end up doing just this. Part of post-separation emotional abuse often involves the family courts as a means of perpetuating the abuse. Many can't afford the services of a lawyer to support them. Even when you can, then the lawyer doesn't necessarily know much about the workings of post-separation emotional abuse and may be of only limited help (I speak from personal experience). This is why Mums In Need's collaboration with Support Through Court is so timely and important. READ more below...
Last month, Mums In Need had a productive meeting with Angela from Support Through Court ! This amazing charity helps people facing the civil & family courts alone. We discussed ways that we can work together to better support our communities. We were so impressed by Support Through Court's work! Here's a bit about what they do: ⬇️ 💥Provide a safe space with supportive volunteers. 💥Help clients problem-solve and navigate next steps. 💥Offer legal information & explain court procedures. 💥Assist with completing forms & presenting statements. Learn more about Support Through Court on their website: https://lnkd.in/eQbtR5k Thanks again Angela for visiting Mums In Need 🙌 #MumsInNeed #ConfrontingCoerciveControl #SupportThroughCourt #Collaboration #EmpoweringMums #SheffieldIsSuper

Today is Wrongful Conviction Day, a time to reflect on the devastating impact wrongful convictions have on individuals, families, and communities. We ask you to join us in recognizing and standing up for those who have been wrongfully accused and convicted. At the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice, we are dedicated to bringing home those who have suffered due to injustice. Our founder, Jeffrey Deskovic, has tirelessly advocated for parole justice, wrongful conviction reform, and compensation for exonerees—essential protections that are still missing in states like Pennsylvania. With your support, we can continue to fight for the innocent and prevent further tragedies. Please consider donating at deskovicfoundation.org and help us hire another attorney to meet the overwhelming number of requests from those seeking justice. Wrongful convictions can happen to anyone—let’s work together to make sure it stops.
