#MXInsight #MXHealthSector by Agil(e): The Constitution, the consolidation of the transformation
🔑 In February 2024, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador submitted a package of 18 constitutional reforms to Congress, aiming to consolidate his political vision before the end of his term. Among the most notable proposals are the judicial system reform, the dissolution of autonomous bodies and regulators, and the electoral reform.
⚖️ Alongside these political reforms, a set of social initiatives are also included, such as the guarantee of free healthcare and the prohibition of illicit fentanyl trade and vape products. These topics have drawn significant attention from the healthcare sector and the public.
🏛️ Starting in September, with the new legislative session, the legislative process on these reforms is expected to progress. The incoming administration will be responsible for developing the necessary secondary regulations to ensure these reforms are effectively implemented, marking the beginning of a new political cycle.
💉🚑 The constitutional reform initiative to guarantee universal and free healthcare is a central element of this package. This proposal reinforces every individual’s right to health protection, ensuring the State provides comprehensive medical care, surgeries, and medications free of charge, reflecting a commitment to social justice and equitable access to essential services.
In the healthcare sector, we also support organizations in navigating these changes and designing strategies that drive inclusive growth, aligned with the new realities of Mexico’s legislative and social environment.
