One of the hot topics and widely discussed recently has been if companies are ramping up their AI training for their teams. Here is my guide on how businesses can skill up and provide literacy programs to prepare their teams for the AI era. If we want to embrace AI with a strong ethical AI lens, educating employees and offering a range of learning materials for understanding and using Gen AI is key. Foundational skills like prompt engineering and training in AI ethics and company policy governing the use of AI is a baseline for AI training. According to reports, progress to equip employees for the AI-centric workplace has been slow. Less than half of the companies in the US (38%) and UK (44%) are taking steps to train workers to use AI tools according to a 2023 LinkedIn survey of 3,000 senior executives. The technology comes with risks and limitations. It has been scrutinised for its reliability, arising from LLM’s tendency to hallucinate, or present false or misleading information as a fact as well as security risks stemming from use of confidential company data or intellectual property in AI prompts or model training. This has led to the need for guardrails in place. Training on AI ethics which reflects the business’s value in how the technology is applied and training on responsible AI principles such as fairness and transparency should be delivered as part of the literacy program. Here are some ways that a business can skill up teams: 💥 Intranet Hub: Providing company-wide AI learning accessible across the organisation. 💥 Lunch and Learn Sessions: Experts and knowledgeable employees can educate teams and share knowledge on aspects of AI concepts. 💥 Hands-on Practical Sessions: Encouraging a community of practice where employees can engage and learn. 💥 Experimentation: Giving teams autonomy to experiment, learn and share knowledge. Experimenting on multiple Gen AI platforms gives teams the opportunity to learn more broadly across different AI systems. 💥 Accelerator programme: For new digital hires with AI-related degrees to help them get up to speed in their roles. 💥 Online Courses: Providing online courses in various tech disciplines including data and AI. As the AI space is constantly evolving , regular training is needed and businesses need to prepare employees from entry-level to CEO with Gen AI tools for the AI-centric workplace. How are you skilling up your team? Are there other methods you have used to train your employees? Share your initiatives here. #ArtificialIntelligence #GenAI #AITraining #DigitalTransformation #Training #ResponsibleAI

I am pleased to share I have completed the course "Navigating Generative AI Risks for Leaders," which is part of the educational programme "Navigating Generative AI for Leaders". This was a short course which should prove valuable to business leaders as an introduction to GenAI ethics and risks, including subjects such as business model risks, data security, privacy issues related to AI, legislation and regulation. One of the standout aspects of the course was its focus on the ethical considerations of using GenAI and the role of senior leaders in fostering responsible AI principles within their organisation. It also offered an overview of the current legal and regulatory landscape, which is crucial for ensuring compliance. For those navigating the complexities of AI adoption, this course is a good starting point. For a more in-depth look at the subject of AI ethics, I highly recommend the excellent course from Lund University, "Artificial Intelligence: Ethics & Societal Challenges". #continuousLearning #generativeAI #genAI #artificialintelligence #AITransformation #AIStrategy #AIEthics #AIRisks #AILeadership #digitalTransformation #strategy #businessStrategy #leadershipTraining #AILeadership #appliedAI

As a business consultant and university lecturer, I often find myself at the intersection of technology and ethics. Reflecting my experiences with English and Turkish firms, it becomes clear that the ethical landscape of AI in business is complex and multifaceted. While AI holds immense potential, we must remain vigilant in addressing the ethical dilemmas it presents. What about: - AI Outperforms Your Director’s Suggestion: The AI’s recommendation is more data-driven, efficient, and cost-effective. Do you trust the AI over your director, risking human relationships and leadership authority? - Bias in AI Hiring Decisions: AI rejects a qualified candidate based on outdated data trends, flagging them as a “risk factor.” Are we allowing AI to make decisions that humans should never tolerate? - Employee Surveillance vs. Humanity: AI tracks productivity dips, flagging employees for “underperformance.” What if those dips are due to moments of empathy—supporting a grieving colleague? Is that inefficiency or humanity? -AI’s Influence on Team Dynamics: When an AI tool suggests team reassignments based on performance metrics, are we risking the cohesion and collaboration that come from strong interpersonal relationships? - Decision-Making in Crisis: In times of crisis, AI might suggest cutting costs by reducing workforce. Are we prioritizing data analysis over the human impact on our colleagues’ lives? As business leaders and educators, we have a responsibility to ensure that AI serves as a force for good. This involves embracing transparency, fostering diversity in data, and prioritizing human oversight in AI applications. I urge my colleagues and peers to engage in meaningful discussions about AI ethics and to champion responsible practices within their organizations. Together, we can shape a future where technology enhances human potential while upholding our core values of integrity and empathy. #AI #Ethics #Leadership #BusinessConsulting #FutureOfWork #ArtificialIntelligence #CulturalInsights #Education #ResponsibleAI #EthicalLeadership

#AIResponsibility It's a momentous day as we witness the landmark case of the first known arrest and prosecution in the US for creating and sharing AI-generated explicit images without consent. This underlines the gravity of non-consensual use of AI and its direct repercussions on personal privacy and individual rights. ✅ A Precursor for Legislative Reform: While this incident is concerning, it may serve as a much-needed catalyst to stir action and inspire legislative reform. Swift intervention put an end to the wrongful use of AI, but what it truly underscores is the need for effective laws, norms and regulations. There's an urgent requirement for tech legislature to catch up with AI advancements. ✅ AI Ethics & Education: The incident also amplifies the necessity for greater tech education. Particularly, there's a need to educate users on AI ethics to preempt such abuses in the future. Users need to understand that AI is not a tool for exploiting or compromising privacy and must respect this boundary unmistakenly. 1️⃣ Reshaping the future trajectory of AI: As we move forward, we must continually reassess and improve our frameworks to ensure safe AI usage. The current incident is an important reminder of the vast range of problems that can stem from the misuse of AI. It's crucial that we continue to evolve and better protect those who could potentially be harmed by inappropriate AI use. ⏳ An Urgent Call-To-Action: While it's tempting to pass this incident off as a youthful transgression, the reality is that it's a clear-cut case of how AI can be manipulated with damaging consequences. This should serve as a call-to-action for all of us working in the AI field, be it legal experts, regulators, educators, corporate entities or individual coders. Let's navigate responsibly through the raging torrent of AI-volution together. As we innovate and advance, let's also safeguard and educate. Through collective vigilance and continual evolution of our ethical standards, we ensure that the gains from AI never come at the cost of human rights. #AIforGood #AIethics #LetsLeadByExample
