𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 – 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐠 What a great opportunity to join ICCA’s first Global Venue Expert Forum, organized last week in Beijing. Thank you very much Senthil Gopinath, Waikin Wong and Nurdiyanah Mohd Daud for inviting me to this excellent gathering of global exhibition and conference center professionals. On behalf of EAC International Consulting, it was my great pleasure to share my humble insights of more than 20 venue projects in China and Asia during the two panel sessions:    𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮𝘴 While only a few exhibition centers have the luxury of being fully occupied, the majority is struggling to achieve senseful utilization of their facilities, but for both it is crucial to develop and diversify revenue streams beyond mere sqm-sales. Moderated by Jonas Scharf and together with my fellow panelists Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, Dongki Lee, Shelley Tang and Marta Gomes we discussed the opportunities and associated challenges to stretch venue offerings to catering, logistic & tourism services, car parking and maintenance, health & wellness, digital match-making platforms and venue consulting, etc. 𝘝𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘴 Likewise important were the discussions to explore the potential and future investment trends for exhibition and convention center and multi-purpose facilities. With focus shifting from “𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘦” to “𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦” future investments need to carefully strike balance between smart venue, convenience, integration, logistic excellence and sustainability.
