I never allow anyone to eat mangoes at work Why? Before I answer that here a story Circa 1998-99 Our colleague arranged “Mango Party” on his roof top, this was the first mango party I had attended. It was more like friends get together and enjoying some downtime. Later from 2003 onwards I made it a yearly event at whichever #contactcenter I was #leading. Base theme remained #kingoffruits but presentation, arrangement, décor etc. were changed. The name stuck, “#mangoparty” and it brought together whole team from ideation to execution for décor and activities. I humbly take credit of arranging almost 12 mango parties. Any why not to eat mangoes at work? Any strong-smelling food shall not be eaten at work, most work spaces lack proper ventilation and office stinks for many hours post meal time. But the most important is the #message! Yes, message for the team’s #family, that we #care and we want to #share king of fruits with the family too. Today was an exciting day in the Kincade household – we got new dining chairs! But it wasn’t the newness or design of the chairs that made the experience special. What stood out was how easy they were to assemble. Just four simple steps, and the chairs were ready to go. It was nearly impossible to go wrong. The sense of accomplishment after finishing the first chair was rewarding, and because the process was straightforward, I could repeat the same steps for the other three chairs without needing the instructions. It got me thinking—shouldn’t all our interactions with clients, patients, guests, and employees be like this? Simple, easy, and empowering. In life and in business, we often complicate things unnecessarily. We add steps, processes, and barriers that don’t always add value. It’s like looking at a loaf of store-bought bread with an endless list of ingredients you can’t pronounce. When all you really need are a few basic, natural ingredients to make something great. Imagine the impact we could make by simplifying life and business. Let’s cut out the unnecessary ingredients and focus on what truly matters—genuine, natural, and intentional interactions. As a coffee fanatic and a #StarbucksLover (a reference that only Swifties would understand from “Blank Space” IYKYK), I’m feeling really good about the new things they’ve got shaken up over yonder! So get this, Starbucks’ CEO is ready to combat those comfy and cozy mom-and-pop coffee shops we all adore (myself included). A new menu, new furniture, new interior design, almost EVERYTHING is getting a revamp. One thing that won’t change? Friendly baristas, and less stressed out baristas due to the simpler menu items they’ll be making for customers. That’s right, that double-whip, extra shot of espresso, extra toffee nut syrup with a shot of almond milk iced latte will have to take the backseat. This will cut wait times for customers as well…get your order and go (or stay)! What do y’all think of this? I love it when CEOs like Brian Niccol can think outside of the box to benefit both parties; the customers and the employees. Maps should provide a list of every nearby toilet: public, private, fancy, sketchy -all of them. Each toilet must have ratings for cleanliness, toilet paper quality, and more. A premium feature could allow you to reserve a cubicle. That's right, no more awkward dances outside occupied bathrooms. It's a universal problem. Because when you gotta go, you gotta know where to go.
