Inflammation is fundamentally linked to both aging and cancer, with telomerase playing a crucial role in this connection. Telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, shorten as cells divide, eventually triggering cellular senescence or apoptosis. Chronic inflammation accelerates telomere shortening, promoting aging and increasing the risk of cancer.
