Two Months of Job Searching Two months have passed since I started my job search. I’m currently navigating the hiring process with four companies, and although I’m still optimistic, I’m beginning to feel a touch of fatigue. The IT market continues to tremble. I don’t know if this is somehow related to AI, but I firmly believe that the IT world as we know it will soon cease to exist. In the grand scheme of time, nothing "big" will happen. New technologies will replace the old, and millions of people along with current infrastructure will become obsolete. Over the past 150 years, humanity has witnessed two massive technological revolutions: the industrial and the informational. Now we’ve entered a new revolution, which historians will name once it’s over. What the future holds, no one knows. And no one can tell us exactly how to find our place in it. Investing in our mental resilience and adaptability seems like a good idea. Recently, I came across these incredible company values: https://lnkd.in/e2KHukju. Oddly, based on the reactions of everyone I enthusiastically sent them to, these values seem to resonate only with me. Or maybe people just find them too long to read—who knows. Wishing everyone peace, health, and fulfilling work. #jobsearch

🔥This Week’s Sizzling Job Search Strategy: Break Free from Your Four Walls 20-Minute Challenge: Explore New Job Titles Many people I talk to suffer from "job title blindness". What I mean by this is, that they don’t know what is possible. By staying within the same company or organizational structure for many years, they have limited understanding of what other roles they could pursue that utilize their skills and experiences in different contexts. Breaking out of this job title conformity is crucial, especially when a search stalls. How to do it: Pick an AI tool https://claude.ai/chats https://chat.openai.com/ and https://www.perplexity.ai/ are a few I like Enter the following prompt into the chat: I am currently a [current title] at a [type of company you work for, industry, location] I want to make a career change. Identify five similar job titles in various organizations or sectors. Then, list five job titles that are a step up from my current position. These should challenge my capabilities and offer opportunities for growth in areas such as [areas you want to grow in, for example, leadership].Finally, list five roles where my specific skills are valuable, regardless of the industry. These roles might be completely outside my current field but can provide refreshing new career paths. Be inspired by what is possible! #ai #jobsearch #opentowork

So who's #jobhunting? Almost 30 days ago I was #laidoff. I was really surprised because I was very happy with my role and thought growth potential was looking good. I guess you never really know when it's your time. I'm a pretty positive person, and thought I'd share my journey while I #jobhunt. Quick shout out to all of my past #coworkers and #network constituents who've reached out to help - I'm truly grateful for your referrals and assistance. Day 1: When I opened up my resume I knew it needed an overhaul. First, I found a fresh template because my old resume was too busy. I started off with broad experiences pertinent to a few different job titles I was interested in pursuing. I used #AI to align my skills with those job requirements. Secondly, I made sure to include #action items for my experiences e.g. "Managed 14 coaches across 10 states" or "Spearheaded a wearable program that lead to drop in 67 injuries that saved my client 1 million dollars." Lastly, I included data from my post-graduate #experience and condensed all relevant information into a single page, ensuring a concise and focused presentation. Once I had my two versions, I was ready to start applying. So here's the #data: Honestly, I feel these last 4 weeks have been going pretty well. In 30 days, I've applied to 33 job openings and received 7 #rejections. (21%) I haven't heard a peep from 24 companies (72%), I'm calling them non-rejections because that sounds better than #ghosting. 😆 I was lucky enough to land video interviews with 2 companies within the last 2 weeks! (0.06%) 🙌 AND I'm still in the running for at least 1 of the jobs! So, how are you fairing out there? Are you changing your approach with applications? How are you leveraging AI? Are you having similar luck? Better or worse? I'll post my data in another 30 days or if I land a job, which ever comes first. 🤞 Stay #positive out there! Cheers! Jeremy p.s. added Generative AI picture for dramatic effect! 😯

Jobs of the future? 🤯 Some people have known what they wanted to be when they grew up since they were nine years old. Other people get to their junior year of college and are still considering options. While there’s no one “right way” to choose the career for you, one thing you can think about is choosing a career path that’s likely to have many jobs of the future. https://lnkd.in/dxdfQ2DP

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭? Some call me a scientist based on some roles I've played in my past. I would not. I am more complex than a single category. Aren't we all? People like to talk in absolutes. What if I told you that we don't have a clue about 99.9% of the world, the galaxy, the universe and beyond. Many "scientists" now snickering because they think I am an idiot. Because there is "nothing bigger than the universe"... really? Scientists have theories and hypotheses communicated as absolute. They are not; they are simply the best theory or hypothesis founded on what we know (or think we know) to explain something. If you drop an object on earth with no other forces present the object shall accelerate toward the ground at 9.8 meter per second squared. We can bank on that. We call it acceleration due to gravity. BUT gravity is not an absolute truth scientists fully understand. Did you know that? I trust that if I drop something it's going to fall to the ground. If I fall and don't catch myself my body is going to get damaged. It DOESN'T matter. The human race are lifelong learners whether we admit it or not. Theories and hypotheses are good until they are not. The more we learn, the more we see we don't know. Pluto was a planet when I was a kid. Now science has refined the definition of "planet" and we've increased our knowledge of bodies in our solar system. Pluto? Not a planet. Does Pluto care? NOPE. What does this have to do with looking for a job? 𝔽𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕤 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕛𝕠𝕓 𝕞𝕒𝕣𝕜𝕖𝕥: The job market is very tight right now. Companies are being more selective than ever before (expecting more from candidates, willing to pay less, reducing their benefits, etc.). More companies keep announcing layoffs. Companies are trying to figure out how AI can help them with work (i.e. less hiring). The AVERAGE time to find a job is now SIX months. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙗 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 (𝙞.𝙚. 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙥, 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙). 𝔽𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕤 𝕒𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕞𝕪 𝕛𝕠𝕓 𝕤𝕖𝕒𝕣𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕙𝕚𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪: Midway through month 4. Two of my best jobs came during two of the worst job markets in recent history. Wide breadth and depth of skills with experience in several industries (i.e. if I market myself properly there are many roles I can fill). Am I optimistic? Not really. Being realistic: I will find a job... it's a matter of when. Being clear about what I want: I won't accept the first opportunity that comes my way. Have to move at the end of the month. Will have to decide where prior to landing my next role. THAT is the source of a lot of anxiety. Fellow travelers: keep your head up, your mind clear, and focus. You got this. There may be uncertainty along the way but keep moving forward.

Let's chat about jobs. You know, the ones that seem to vanish and make us all nervous. But here's a twist. When simple jobs go away, it's not the end. It's a new start. Think about it. New, better jobs come up. It's like a game where the levels keep getting cooler. Now, tech is changing the game fast. Super fast. What's the trick? Be like water. Move, twist, turn. Learn what's hot. New skills are your golden ticket. And guess what? Folks who learn fast, they don't just get by. They win big. History's got our back on this. Every big change in work made life better. More stuff. Better stuff. Cooler stuff. This time's no different. We're heading somewhere good. Trust me. Opportunities are like buses. Miss one, and there's another coming. But you gotta be at the stop, ready to jump on. That's on us. We gotta grab those chances. So, what do you think? Where's work heading? Are you ready to ride the wave?
