This 1750 stone farmhouse sits on approx. 6 acres and is surrounded by protected open space ensuring its tranquil landscape. The house opens into meticulously crafted and maintained gardens that create connections between the other buildings on the property. An addition was proposed for the house to allow for a more contemporary lifestyle including a larger kitchen, family entry, and new primary bathroom suite. The design also includes locating a new swimming pool which creates a gathering space between the house, carriage house, and outdoor pavilion. Biophilic design is an innovative approach to architecture and interior design that seeks to connect building occupants more closely to nature. By incorporating natural elements such as light, vegetation, and natural materials into built environments, it fosters a sense of well-being and tranquility. Drawing inspiration from wooded areas and transplanted into urban landscapes, biophilic architecture seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces, creating a harmonious living environment. Principles of Feng Shui in Architecture Feng shui is an ancient Chinese practice that has been widely used in architecture to create harmonious and balanced living spaces. It involves the arrangement of spaces in a way that promotes the flow of positive energy or “chi” through a building. A major focus of feng shui is on the placement of objects, such as furniture and decor, and the use of colors and materials that optimize the balance and alignment of energy in a home or building. This introduction provides a glimpse into the principles of feng shui in architecture and how it can impact the overall well-being of the individuals residing in such spaces. Still stuck on the Balconies project in Berlin by LOVE architecture and urbanism ... I modeled 3 versions to explore: 1. As close as original as possible (Original Balconies Proposal) 2. A version with Original Balconies shape, but removed the walkway and moved the balconies back to the facade 3. A version with more conventional "full" loggia balconies, about 3m deep, so still spacious What I'm seeing: While the original balconies (right) does indeed offer some more daylight and sun on the facades than a closed version of such deep balconies do, the benefit isn't that big. Removing the walkways and pasting the balconies directly on Facade (middle) performs better it looks like, but some area is of course lost when doing so. Also would require entry to apartments from interior core. The logia balconies perform at times better than the original balconies, but really takes away the whole soul of the design. 🥱 (I’m an Autodesk Employee)

CASA DE RETIRO ESPIRITUAL SEVILLE, SPAIN (1978) https://lnkd.in/eC6stwgk https://lnkd.in/e3aVZsci Outside of Seville, in the middle of a rolling field, this house is the weekend retreat of a couple with two children. Inspired by the traditional Andalusian house, it has a central patio onto which all rooms open. The house is insulated by the earth, which keeps it naturally cool in the hot, arid southern climate. Two tall, rough stuccoed white walls meet at a right angle to herald the entrance to the house, which is otherwise contained by sinuous walls. Water cascades within both high walls along the handrails, creating a great amount of noise at the bottom of the stairs but becoming increasingly quieter as visitors ascend to the top. The large, continuous living space of the interior area is defined by smooth cavities excavated into the floor. The walls are washed by the soft, diffused light, that descends from the skylights and filters in from the breezy patio.
