The geospatial community in Europe came together in Geneva on the 19 – 20 June for the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of UN-GGIM: Europe and a Common Day organised jointly with the 72nd Conference of European Statisticians. Hosted at the Palais des Nation, experts from 18 Member States and 13 international bodies and observer organisations participated. It was an interesting day with updates on implementing the UN-GGIM: Europe work plan, linkages with the different policy areas, the crucial and vital role of geospatial data for the achievement of #SDGs and the 2030 Agenda objectives, as well as the fundamental role that geodesy has in everything we do. The participation of World Health Organization and World Meteorological Organization, provided insights to the value of geospatial data to other domains. We were excited that for the first time, all four other UN-GGIM Regional Committees participated in a Europe plenary, providing the opportunity for continuing our inter-regional collaboration. Thank you United Nations Economic Commission for Europe for hosting the eleventh UN-GGIM: Europe plenary meeting, and EuroGeographics for the logistical support.
