Go check this out on instagram @vetspeaks Correct positioning (right lateral recumbency) and lead placement for ECG. 1. White rhymes with right. White goes on the right front limb. Also, in the right lateral position, the right forelimb is down and snow(white) is on the ground. 2. Black will go on the other front leg(left) and you read your newspaper first thing in the morning. So black and white will always go on the front legs. 3. Red goes on the left hind leg (smoke over fire, so if black is left front leg, red is left back leg). Also, Christmas comes at the end of the year, so the red and the green go on the hind legs. 4. For the green, in the right lateral recumbency, grass grows on the ground. So the green would go on the right hind leg which is in the down position. #vet #veterinary #ecg #dog #dogs #pet #pets

BREED SPOTLIGHT: Borzoi 🐾 The Borzoi is best described as a large greyhound robed in a long, silky coat. Like a typical greyhound, it has family traits of long, slender legs, relatively narrow body, deep chest, tucked abdomen, arched loin and long tail. It's head is extraordinarily long and narrow. Although smaller than an Irish Wolfhound, Borzoi are still very large, and especially tall, dogs. Borzoi know they are aristocrats, but they also hide a bit of court jester. They are good-natured, gentle and calm, seemingly amused at whatever entertainment comes their way. They are happiest when that entertainment involves running. True to their heritage, borzoi are avid hunters, and will chase any small fleeing animal. Borzoi need room to stretch out, inside and out. They are not a breed that can curl up in a corner or exercise in a pen. Their laid-back nature means that they are quite content to lounge about most of the day, but these dogs are athletes and need to push themselves running every day. As would be expected from a Russian dog, borzoi enjoy cold weather, and often lie on hard, cold surfaces. Their coat sheds once a year and they should be brushed two to three times a week. Their average life expectancy is 10 to 12 years. 💞 Do you have a Borzoi? FAQ - Why does my dog sploot and should it be a concern? 🤔 We often get asked if it is normal, and is it ok if my dog sploots? This is when a dog lies on their belly with their hindlimbs extended out behind them. They can also partially sploot when the knees are still bent. This is different to a dog lying in a frog legged position (another issue for discussion later). There can be many reasons why a dog will sploot. You might see your dog sploot after a walk. This might be to place their belly on a cold floor to help regulate temperature and dissipate heat. Dog's will also sploot to stretch and relax. This position extends the hips and lower spine and stretches the hip flexors. Sometimes the question is whether they sploot because it feels good OR do they sploot because they are trying to alleviate underlying painful joints? 💥 Close observation of even subtle signs can lead to early diagnosis and management, so if you are noticing this behaviour in your dog it's a good idea to have our vets do an examination. 💜 #waggydog #waggydogmarketing #petindustry #veterinary #petmarketing #vets #petsocialmedia #socialmediaforpets #socialmediaforvets #sploot #dogs #dogsploot #dogjoints #caninejoints #jointhealth #healthyjoints

🌍Last Step of Rhino Horn Trimming… Thru Jeremiah’s Eyes 🦏 Horn trimming is something I wish we didn’t have to do, however, the previous combinations and conservation efforts to protect these gentle giants just haven’t been enough. With each rhino dehorning, the risk:reward ratio for poachers goes down, and it’s been working fairly well. After the process of rhino horn trimming, the final step is to grind & even out the residual horn & add an oil to help it. We leave the growth plate intact, so the horn will continue to grow as normal with no side effects to the rhinos. Hopefully one day we won’t have to alter the animal because people aren’t being good or being properly held accountable for their actions. 🌍 Just livin' life for the story. Enjoy this? ♻️ Repost it to your network and follow me, Jeremiah Pouncy, for more on nature's guide for wellness and innovation for your life.
