💡A 2021 survey from the Workplace Bullying Institute (WBI) states that 30% of adults (76.4 million workers), are bullied at work. · 61.3% of bullying is same gender · 65% of women bullied are by females 😳 These are staggering statistics! 🥹I’ve experienced it first-hand and know how traumatic it is to be on the receiving end of the ‘Queen of Mean’ especially, at work. 🥹The term ‘mean girl,’ that’s frequently used, belittles the seriousness of this behavior and dismisses the cold-hard-truth that when this behavior is on-going and escalates it’s a form of BULLYING, that’s more common than sexual harassment and racial discrimination. 😩Unfortunately, workplace bullying has become normalized. 📕In my blog out today, The Queen of Mean: Overcoming A Vicious Vixen at Work, I share tips about what workplace bullying behaviors can lead to, why women act this way towards each other, the scarcity factor and how to manage the mean. (Link below). ♥️Today I will be fearless. Today I am grateful. Did you know that in the realm of workplace bullying, women often find themselves the target of other women? 🦩A staggering 68% of female bullies direct their aggression towards fellow women. This can manifest in various forms, from undermining comments to exclusionary tactics. It’s crucial to recognise these behaviours and address them head-on. 🦩Remote workers face a higher bullying rate of 43.2%, indicating that virtual work environments can pose greater challenges. 🦩Targets of bullying have a 67% chance of losing a job they loved when targeted. 🦩54% of bullies have been bullying others for more than 5 years. 🦩When bullying is reported, employers tend to react negatively 60% of the time, often encouraging, defending, rationalizing, discounting, or denying the bullying. Let’s foster a culture of support and empowerment, where every woman lifts each other up. Stand strong, set boundaries, and remember, you’re not alone. Together, we can create a positive and respectful work environment. #RiseAbove #SelfBelief #UnbreakableSpirit #victimtovictor #youarenotalone❤️ #adjustyourcrown👑 #covertbullying #f2fbullying #takeastand🦩 #beheard #EmpowHEARD #yourvoicematters📣 #CovertBullying #SpeakUp #WomensEmpowerment #KindnessMatters #WorkplaceBullying #RespectAtWork #standupagainstbullying #Iamenough #EmbraceYourUniqueness #BeYou ✨

** STOP! Harassment and Bullying Survey ** PIA QLD Women in Planning Network is proud to support the STOP! Harassment and Bullying Survey, a rigorous industry-wide survey conducted by Parlour Inc: gender, equity, architecture and Dr Gill Matthewson of Monash University. Anecdotal evidence tells us that harassment and bullying behaviours present ongoing challenges in some parts of the built environment professions. But our ability to effect change has been limited without data. The time has come to collect that robust data, identifying patterns and understanding the extent of harassment and bullying in the Australian built environment professions. Data is a fundamental tool for advocacy, and required to tailor industry-specific initiatives to address these challenges. The survey asks broad questions about the prevalence and impact of harassment and bullying; collects important info about policies and support in the workplace; and invites you to tell us about your specific experiences. The STOP! survey will provide a foundation and catalyst for meaningful collective action. We are committed to working with Parlour and others to shine a light on potential issues and work towards a fair, equitable and safe profession for all. The survey closes soon (22 Nov), so take the survey today! https://lnkd.in/g6NZ3WQn *Most people will take 20–30 minutes to fill out the survey, but this will depend very much on what you’d like to share. It is possible to pause the survey and return to it. One day when we have time I'm asking that we talk about "WORKPLACE BULLYING". We continue seeing people who are deliberately working against each other (especially black on black, women on women) in many workplaces. Actually, the working environment (both in public and private sector) has become so toxic such that many are dreading to even go to work daily. It is a sorry state of affairs - the gory stories people tell 😭😭😭. It's unfortunate that not everyone has the ability to recognise this phenomenon and report it promptly, as a result people end up in psychiatric clinics/institutions. NB: Ignoring, isolating, aggression, coersion, deceit, intimidation, minimization, belittling, shaming, withholding information etc. are but some of the subtle signs of workplace bullying. WHY DO WE HATE ON EACH OTHER SO MUCH? 🤔

Racism and discrimination in the workplace have worse effects than you think. From my personal experience with receiving hateful comments online (you should see the comments on my Tik Tok), I’ve been curious to find out about the negative effects of racism. During my research, I found that being affected by prolonged racism can actually alter your brain chemistry. What does this mean for organisations and their employees? I go into detail in the full YouTube video: https://buff.ly/3U6HAPo Want to mitigate discrimination and stereotyping to create an inclusive and respectful company culture? 🤝Partner with us at GORM! STOP! Harassment and Bullying Survey ArchiTeam is proud to support the STOP! Harassment and Bullying Survey, a is a rigorous industry-wide survey conducted by Parlour: gender equity, architecture and Dr Gill Matthewson of Monash University. The survey responds to the urgent need to understand the extent and nature of harassment and bullying in the Australian built environment professions, to generate significant new data and to tailor industry-specific initiatives to address these challenges. The survey asks broad questions about the prevalence and impact of harassment and bullying; collects important info about policies and support in the workplace; and invites you to tell us about your specific experiences. Most people will take 20–30 minutes to fill out the survey, but this will depend very much on what you’d like to share with us. Note that it is possible to pause the survey and return to it. The STOP! survey will provide a foundation and catalyst for meaningful collective action. We are committed to working with Parlour and others to shine a light on potential issues and work towards a fair, equitable and safe profession for all. Take the survey today! (link in bio) Why do we need the STOP! Harassment and Bullying Survey? Why now? Recent research (2022) from the Australian Human Rights Commission tells us that in the last five years, one in three people have been sexually harassed at work – 41% of women and 26% of men. Each case of harassment can have devastating ongoing impacts on the person affected. In fact, two thirds (67%) of people sexually harassed in the workplace experience negative mental health impacts (71% of women and 59% of men). It is a serious problem with very serious impacts for individuals and practices alike. Over the past decade, we have had many people approach us with stories of harassment or bullying in the profession with harmful, often long-lasting impacts. Anecdotal evidence tells us that these behaviours present ongoing challenges in some parts of the built environment professions. But our ability to effect change has been limited without data. The time has come to collect that robust data, identifying patterns and understanding the extent of the challenge. Data is a fundamental tool for advocacy. The STOP! survey will provide a foundation and catalyst for meaningful collective action. Take the survey today! Link below and in our bio https://buff.ly/4frSJU4

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION | Discrimination, Harassment & Bullying Programs So how effective are off-the-shelf, online, pre-scripted Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying programs in actually creating true awareness and changed behaviour? Perhaps it’s controversial, but we think that it’s a tick-the-box exercise, done purely for the sake of compliance. There’s nothing like a live, face-to-face program, with real humans in a room together learning and talking about an important but often very challenging topic. In a session where real-life stories and case studies are shared and worked through. Where participants can show vulnerability and personal challenges and be encouraged to feel safe to voice these respectfully and constructively. Our Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying sessions are just this. And they get true behaviour change. Get in touch if you’re interested in exploring more than a tick-the-box exercise for your workforce. #discrimination #harassment #bullying #psychologicalsafety #psychosocialhazards #DEI #Diversity #inclusion #training #workshop
