There’s no such thing as bad press. Only people saying that are those that get none. My app "Bang with Friends" sparked global controversy. Fast Company called us “disruptive” InterVarsity Christian Fellowship declared us “the evilest app ever” SXSW banned our guerilla marketing, but that only boosted our visibility. We turned their censorship to our advantage. Did that stop people from signing up? Not even close—it made them more curious. The media couldn't help but report on us. From Germany’s SPIEGEL to BuzzFeed, they couldn’t get enough. We even made it onto The Colbert Report. Colbert cracked jokes about us in front of millions, and our traffic skyrocketed. Let me restate the obvious for those that don’t agree: Bad press? Doesn’t exist. It's how you use it to your advantage that matters. Create a press plan full of attention-grabbing angles. I did a six-month strategy, and most of it got picked up. Lesson? Embrace controversy. Be bold. Be different. If people are talking about you—even negatively—you’re winning. Stop playing it safe. Make some noise. If you're not making people uncomfortable, you're not doing enough. #Marketing #Disruptivetech #DOWN #Growth #Startups

Business Insider recently did a piece on our work at ScaleMate. And while I would have loved to give them a plug and play system to succeed in outbound that wouldn't have been possible. Products, companies, markets, problems, etc. are all drastically different and thus require different strategies. I like to think I share enough information online to help you sort through the noise and build campaigns that absolutely crush. BUT... If you would like to fast lane the process and learn the exact strategy I would use for your company you can fill out the form below and I will reach out with some ideas. https://tally.so/r/3qY4gk P.S. Thank you Business Insider for the kind words.

Imagine you’re at your day job, but you’re itching to build something of your own—a product people genuinely love. That was Kevin Systrom’s reality in 2010. He started with an app idea called Burbn, packed with features: gaming, check-ins, and photo sharing. It was complex, cluttered, and trying to solve too many problems. Then, one weekend changed everything. As he watched users interact with Burbn, he noticed one clear trend: everyone was there for the photos. The check-ins and games didn’t matter—just the photos. Inspired, he called his friend Mike Krieger. They asked, “What if we made an app just for photos? Simple filters, easy sharing, no extra fluff.” They dove in, coding non-stop for eight weeks, and released Instagram—an app with a single purpose: share photos, add filters, connect with friends. On day one, it hit 25,000 users. Within months, 1 million. And 18 months later, Facebook acquired it for a jaw-dropping $1 billion. What started as a cluttered idea became a billion-dollar business when they honed in on what people actually wanted. Are you ready to create something people can’t put down? I have 5 free strategy sessions left this week, book here: https://lnkd.in/gv9kNdvZ

Not every product is 10x better than the others. And that’s okay. You can still win if you’re smart about it. Here’s what to focus on: 🔸 Your product doesn’t have to be faster or fancier. Maybe it’s 10x easier to use. Or 10x more accessible. People care about things that make life simpler, not just better features. 🔸 If your product isn’t super special yet, your plan to get customers can be. How will you get your first 1,000 users? Maybe you build a viral idea, team up with the right partners, or go after a group nobody else is helping. Smart distribution can make all the difference. The lesson? You don’t have to be 10x better—just 10x smarter. #StartupTips #EasyBusinessIdeas #First1000Users #FoundersInsights

Founder update:🥳 It's been a busy week. First week of the last quarter so here we go!!!!! After 2yrs of market research, I incorporated my 5th company in February. A tech startup! I onboarded my CTO so now my team is complete (for now)🙌🏾. The weekly call was so productive today with my CMO going over the marketing strategy for the pilot launch coming up and final plans for our 1st conference next week. My software developer genius showing us the front end of the web app, backend guts, and API progress. The CTO sharing insights and recommendations in getting version 1 (MVP) up while building out 2.0 with more features. My process manager keeping us all on track and taking notes!!! Everyone is so engaged, strategic and super fun 😜 I had a zoom and saw all the merch that is ready for pick up tomorrow. Everything is branded so beautifully 😇 Several VC intros, pitch opportunities, asset and wealth discussions with JPM, and lunch meetings last month. A few all nighters working on my wire-framing and customer journey maps. A panel chat, and dozens of connections with amazing folks who share the excitement of what's on the horizon ☺️ Revenue model is finalized, projections are solid, deck looks amazing, big gov grant submitted! 💪🏾 I'm so Grateful. Ready. Confident. Anxious but in a good way! Making my ancestors proud 🥰😇.... I wanna hear what you have going on too. Let me know in the comments 🤗 #ceo #techfounder #staytuned #founderupdate #founderjourney #impact #blackgirlmagic #entrepreneurs 🚀Storkii

Hey, Big news in #tech! Yahoo just acquired Artifact, a news app started by co-founders of Instagram. So, what's the deal? Yahoo wants to make their news better by using Artifact's tech. That means you might start seeing news that's more up your alley based on what you usually read. Artifact itself is closing shop, but Yahoo's taking their smart system to spruce up their own news. This move shows how tough it is for small news startups nowadays. It's hard to compete with the big dogs like Google and Meta for ad money. Artifact figured it wasn't worth the struggle without more cash, so Yahoo stepped in to snag their tech. Here's a neat fact: The folks who started Artifact used to work at #instagram before doing their own thing. They'll be lending a hand to #Yahoo for a while as they switch things over. Exciting times ahead as Yahoo gives their news a boost with #Artifact's smarts. Keep an eye out for more updates! Let me know if you need anything else tweaked!

On this photo - our awesome Uptech team, whom I’ve cherished and loved for over 8 years now. Many of these folks are more than family to me. Yet, for the past few years, I’ve been starting a new project with a new team almost every year. Sounds like classic insanity, except I get different results each time. Success or failure? It’s all pretty subjective. Plai, Natively - got Google for Startups grants and have an ARR of $300K+. Dyvo, Teamroom, Remotion Events, YCInterviewer - they boomed with market trends and fizzled out when competitors showed up. This year, we’ve finished two more MVPs, and I’ll be sharing all about them this fall 🙈. The questions I ask myself the most: Why do I do this? Because it’s insanely interesting. It’s like creating a new little universe with ideas, people, and places. Does it make me happier/more successful? It’s subjective. It’s not a surefire cure for burnout or disappointment. But it’s definitely a great remedy with unique side effects 🥲. Do I have time for this? You know better than I do — it’s not about time, it’s about interest and priorities. Why am I sharing this with you? Sommo’s anniversary is coming up, and I love the motto that will be on the team’s gifts (sorry for the spoiler, Mariia Fartushnyak and Daria Miasoiedenkova, who prepared the surprise). The motto is: Code less - create more. Skipping the first part, I want to inspire my friends at the start of the business year to create their own projects. To inspire you a bit more, I’ve shared my methods for generating cool new app ideas that we use at Uptech and Sommo. So, let’s create more, my friends! If you feel like you can do more, you probably can💪.
