My dog and I are doing our morning porch sit, observing holiday decorations. This is a time when putting up decorations is worth the hassle, because there is a reward. There are kids who come home and grandparents who visit and gifts to be opened and food to be eaten. What if we were just told to decorate our homes with no reward? What if no one told us why we were even being asked to do it in the first place? What if there were no clear benefits to the immense effort required? More than likely, we would resist. We would grumble. And the sight of holiday lights would induce rage instead of delight. That is often what happens with change. Leaders demand it. There is no clear why. There are no convincing benefits. There are no rewards other than the leaders’ bonuses being met. Let’s do better. #change #changemanagement #changeleadership #organizationalchange

"The Gift..." Today, as we celebrate Christmas, I’m reminded of a pivotal moment in A Charlie Brown Christmas. In his search for the true meaning of Christmas, Charlie Brown feels overwhelmed and lost, much like many of us do in our personal and professional lives. It’s not until Linus steps forward and recites from Luke 2:8-14 that the message becomes clear: "And on earth peace, goodwill toward men." This simple yet profound message speaks to the power of coming together with purpose and understanding. In our work lives, as in the Christmas season, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and miss what truly matters: people. Whether we’re solving complex business challenges or celebrating the holidays, the connections we build and the empathy we share make all the difference. So today, let’s take a moment to reflect on how we can extend goodwill toward one another in our work and beyond. Let’s prioritize collaboration, understanding, and the shared goal of making the world—and our workplaces—a little brighter. Merry Christmas, everyone. May today bring you peace, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose. #MerryChristmas #Leadership #Collaboration #Teamwork #Empathy #WorkplaceCulture #CharlieBrown #HolidayReflections

This holiday season, who could you invite to your table? 🎄 The Table isn’t just a place for food—it’s a place for connection, belonging, and conversation. But not everyone has a table to gather around this year. What if this season, your table became a space for others to experience the warmth of hospitality? ✨ Who could you invite? • A neighbor who might be spending the holidays alone. • A coworker or acquaintance who’s far from home. • Someone in your life who feels overlooked or disconnected. ✨ How could you go beyond food? • Engage in meaningful conversation. Ask about their story, their dreams, or their favorite traditions. • Create an environment of listening, laughter, and genuine connection. • Share more than a meal—share your time, attention, and care. And if inviting someone to your table isn’t possible, consider taking your table to them: • Volunteer at a shelter or community center, not just to serve food but to share kindness and conversation. • Spend time in spaces where connection is just as needed as nourishment. The holidays are a time to reflect on what we have and how we can give it away—our resources, yes, but also our presence and humanity. Who could you make room for at your table this year? How can you practice the Table—the art of the Kind—for others? #Arable #Community #Connection #Table #Holidays #Kindness #Leadership

With significant observances coming up for different cultures, it’s important to be mindful of how we engage with each other. 🌍✨ For example, as U.S. Thanksgiving approaches, some conversations can feel tense or divisive as we understand events going on locally, and globally. To help, Builders has shared an insightful article titled "3 Tips for Keeping Thanksgiving Talks Tension-Free." Here are the key takeaways from the article: 1️⃣ Don’t try to change minds: Focus on sharing your perspective and understanding theirs. Openness creates space for connection and curiosity. 2️⃣ Look for core concerns: Skip the nitpicking and focus on the big-picture concerns behind the disagreements. 3️⃣ Shift the focus to our divides: Talk less about contentious issues and more about bridging divides — it's a great way to find common ground. Although we understand that context matters, we hope that this article can help bridge this season to be more about community and connection, not contention. 🧡 Check out the full article for more insights! https://lnkd.in/gqhjYKJB #BetterConversations #Holidays #Observances

The New Rules for Corporate Holiday Parties: Keep the Festive, Lose the Fluff Ah, the corporate holiday party. At some point in our careers, most of us look around a festive venue—after battling traffic, sacrificing a precious weekend night, and balancing a mini plate of sliders—and wonder: Why am I here? Don’t get me wrong, I love a good celebration (and am GREAT at Karaoke). But as time goes on, the sparkle of forced merriment fades. The idea of using one of the busiest times of the year to spend extra hours with coworkers (however great they are) starts to feel less “cheers” and more “why are we doing this?” The New Holiday Party Rules It’s time to rethink the corporate holiday party. Here’s the formula: 1. Do It During Work Hours Respect people’s time. Everyone is juggling family, friends, and (hopefully) some well-earned downtime. Keep the celebration in the workday. Bonus: Fewer awkward “what are we doing here?” moments. 2. If It’s After Hours, Make It Worth It If your party must take place outside of work hours, show your team you value their time: • Offer a plus-one so they can make it a night out. • Better yet, cover the cost of a babysitter for parents who might otherwise skip the event. • Acknowledge the extra effort it takes for them to attend—it’s a small gesture that goes a long way. 3. Create Space for Actual Connection It’s not about how much the party costs or how fancy the venue is—it’s about how meaningful the time is. Instead of the usual awkward small talk, plan activities that let people bond in a real way. 4. Bonus Points for Giving Back Nothing says “we’re a company that gets it” like giving back during the holidays. Not only does it feel good, but it’s also a chance to come together as a team for something bigger than office gossip and catered chicken skewers. An Example That Hits the Mark: https://lnkd.in/gvGKukRA This year, Tubby Todd Bath Co. nailed it. They brought the team together during work hours for a meaningful and fun celebration: shopping for families in need followed by a lovely lunch. It was simple, thoughtful, and treated the team like adults. What’s your take on corporate holiday parties? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Tubby Todd on Instagram: "For the past 5 years as part of our team holiday party we go shopping for fams in need! This year we connected with families in our area through Salvation Army. It's one of our favorite Tubby traditions and something we look forward to every year. Here's to spreading Tubby cheer! 🫧🩵 What's one of YOUR family's fave holiday traditions? ✨"
