From the 23rd of October 2023, grant levels for certain heat pumps were increased to £7,500, an increase of 50%. This increase seems to have tipped the balance in favour of heat pump installations. There were over 2,000 applications for heat pumps in January 2024, up 39% on the same month in 2023. Only application levels in October and November, immediately following the hike, exceeded January levels. Up to the end of January, the scheme has now received 33,424 applications and has issued more than £133 million in vouchers to customers. The South West has seen the most with 3,894 installations, followed by the South East with 3,886 and then the East with 2,671.

SCOTLAND: Cladding Remediation Programme: Single Building Assessment specification Great news for Scotland: the Scottish Government has now confirmed and announced that the Single Building Assessment will be aligning with PAS 9980 requirements. The Programme aims to safeguard residents and owners by addressing the risk to human life that is (directly or indirectly) created or exacerbated by a building’s external wall cladding system, as well as the consequential negative impacts which can currently exist in relation to the buying, selling, and re-mortgaging of relevant flatted residential properties in Scotland. Buildings within the Programme with potentially unsafe cladding will be assessed through a Single Building Assessment (SBA), with the Bill giving Scottish Ministers the power to specify the standards to which an SBA must be carried out. Are you looking to improve your property’s EPC rating? There are various ways to enhance your EPC rating. It depends on your property type and structure. One of the effective methods is improving your home’s insulation. Improving wall or roof insulation can reduce heat loss. Whether it’s filling gaps in cavity walls, or applying internal or external insulation to solid walls, or installing loft insulation or roof insulation, these measures can make a difference. Which option suits your property best? *Good news for Landlords! You could win a free EPC assessment (worth up to £100) by registering your interest at https://lnkd.in/eamP8eFA by 31 October 2024. Are You Up to Speed on the New Insulation Code Requirements? In 2022, Colorado legislature updated the minimum building energy requirements. The law now requires local jurisdictions to adopt the 2021 IECC and the state’s model electric ready and solar ready code when adopting or updating any other building code between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2026. Insulation changes to note in the 2021 IECC, according to the National Association of Builders, include: •Increased attic insulation - R60 in Climate Zones 4-8. •Increased above-grade wall insulation - R20 + 5 or R13+10. •Increased prescriptive slab insulation - 4 feet at R10 in climate zones 4 and 5. •Increased R-value for exterior framed walls - R 30 cavity. Adding more layers of insulation to exterior walls is key to attaining a higher thermal performance. •Cavity insulation is applied in between spaces created by blocks, bricks, wood, etc. Depending on your home’s needs and your budget, spray foam, BATT, or polystyrene beads can fulfill this requirement. Each material comes with its own benefits and R-value. •Continuous insulation provides an uninterrupted layer of protection (disregarding small interruptions such as outlets and screws/ bolts) that provides continuous and consistent R-values. https://lnkd.in/gHySScjD #BuildingScience #BuildBetter #BuildingProfessionals

A home inspection is a thorough examination of a property's condition, including its structural integrity, electrical & plumbing systems, & any potential issues or problems. It's a good idea to get a home inspection before you buy, as it can help you identify any potential issues & negotiate any repairs or credits with the seller. #gr8sg #gardnergrouprealestate #engel&volkers #utahrealestate #southernutahrealestate #sunnystgeorge #buyingandselling #realestate #realty #realtor #realtorlife #realestatelife #loverealestate #home #buyertip #homeinspection

Building regulations set U-values, which measure heat loss through structural elements such as walls, windows, and roofs, as a means of creating more energy-efficient, comfortable properties. The standards apply to new buildings and renovations. For housebuilders, meeting required U-value targets is not only a matter of achieving compliance and good building practice. They face being penalised in the form of a hefty fine when a building falls short of expected energy performance. Delve into our 'Shared Supply Chain Responsibility Crucial To Creating Energy-Compliant Properties' blog where we go deeper into the impacts a shared supply chain has on creating energy-compliant properties. 💡 Did you know that to achieve the same effective resistance as a Passivhaus window installed in a standard wall (R28), you would need a wall with R10,000 insulation if you used a traditional casement window? 💡 It’s like a dam with a crack: even if you reinforce the walls, water will eventually seep through if the crack isn’t repaired. Similarly, a house with optimal insulation cannot fully protect against heat loss without high-performance windows. Investing in Passivhaus windows is like sealing the "crack" for lasting thermal comfort and energy savings. Learn more in our latest article! #DidYouKnow #PassivhausWindows #ThermalInsulation #EnergyEfficiency #NZPFenestration https://lnkd.in/eQrPYV8s
