Marine Simulators in Pilot Training: AMPI Position Statement As the maritime industry faces growing challenges, such as increasing ship sizes and reduced entry into the profession, the use of marine simulators in pilot training has become an important topic. AMPI is pleased to share our latest position statement which stresses that while simulators are powerful tools, they must be used appropriately and not as a replacement for on-water experience. AMPI advocates for the use of high-standard simulators to maintain safety and effectiveness in training programs. Incorporating simulators thoughtfully into pilot training can boost safety and preparedness, but they should be seen as part of a broader training approach. One of AMPI’s core missions is to advocate for the safety and well-being of marine pilots, and an essential part of that work is developing Position Statements. These statements represent many hours of research and development and ensure that our members' needs are front and center as we engage with industry stakeholders. Through these efforts, we strive to improve working conditions, safety standards, and the overall quality of the profession. Our latest Position Statement focuses on the use of simulators in pilot training. 31.08.24 some evidence about real use of #ultrasonic #antifouling systems of #HASYTEC #SONIHULL #LSC Lamers System Care #cathelco #evac   for ship’s hull   PART 3     Some time ago (in 2022), a press release of AidaCruises was published (unfortunately, I did not save it), in which a brave technical manager of Aida reported that he would equip all Aida ships with HASYTEC systems. My inquiries in 2024 about their experience with “magic sound systems” were ignored by AidaCruises. On their website, it is written that with the ultrasound systems was equipped only the ship`s medical offices. :-) Alesund Maritime published on his website that the systems were purchased by TUI for "Mein Schiff", but does not write that this system will not be used to antifoul the ship`s hull, but only to clean the cooling systems (attached article), that (even if it works) it has a negligible impact on decarbonization. Ultrasonic cleaning of the engine cooling system does not affect seaworthiness in any way and the ship grows at the same speed.
