Procurement & Cost estimation

Negotiation vs Bargaining... In engineering procurement, negotiation and bargaining play distinct roles. Negotiation is a comprehensive process aimed at establishing long-term relationships and mutually beneficial outcomes, covering contract terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards. It's used for critical components where strategic alignment is key. (eg..customized machinery, high value equipment, technology solutions, long term service contract, critical exotic grades material) Bargaining, on the other hand, focuses on immediate financial terms and cost reductions, typically involving bulk materials or standard parts. While negotiation seeks to build lasting partnerships, bargaining aims for short-term cost savings. ( Bulk material, fasteners, commodity items, consumables, tools and tackles, spares) Both are essential but serve different purposes within procurement. #engineering procurement #procurement #purchase #chemical #engineering #capex #mechanical
