🚨 Oh, here we are again, with another AI companion bot—Candy AI—going viral. Launched last year, it's gaining traction, marketed as 18+ only. But I decided to test it myself and, not surprisingly, the only age verification was a simple "Are you over 18?"—click yes, and you're in. ⚡ ⚡ We keep seeing apps like Candy AI and Character AI pop up without any real barriers to kids joining. And once again, it's parents who are left to "monitor" and "control". Placing all the responsibilities on parents. ✅ Where’s the regulation to create a digital world where parents don’t need to micromanage every app? We need a safer digital playground, not just a warning label. Parents, Kids Should Not Be Using This App 🚫 or any Ai companion bots. Kids may come to depend on AI for emotional support in ways that aren't healthy. As a Consumer Protection attorney in the gaming industry, it frustrates me that many countries are evaluating and pushing for stronger age verification / gating requirements for video games than this AI companion bot displaying adult content uses. 🚀 Exciting News: Beta Testing Launch of Elysa App! 📱❤️🩹 Hello LinkedIn community! 👋 We are thrilled to announce the beta build of Elysa app, a project we've poured our heart and soul into! ELYSA (Emotional Life Yielding Supportive AI) is a personal emotional wellness companion which helps you through your tough times and challenges in the life ❤️🩹 Originally, our plan was to use the OpenAI’s ChatGPT model to craft a personalized AI companion. We even got the API key to kickstart the project. However, as we progressed, we realized the sensitive data we are dealing with, our focus shifted towards user privacy. To address this, we went back to drawing board, saying goodbye to the GPT model and shifted our focus towards On Device Generative AI using a SLM. This transition aligns seamlessly with our commitment to privacy by keeping all conversations offline and secure. 🔒 The journey of adapting local SLM was not without its hurdles. With no prior expertise and working on the bleeding edge technology is no small feat. We dedicated over a month into researching and building the prototype to make SLM decently functional on a mid-tier mobile phone. While it might not be the absolute best, it's undeniably the pioneering Local SLM addressing a genuine problem. We commit to improving in the performance and the output making Generative AI accessible to the masses. While performing internal testing with friends and family, we have received an overall positive response. This is the first step to build something big and we have a greater vision in our mind. The Talkie app is another smart phone app for parents to worry about. OK people. Here’s today’s online best practices lecture from Mr. Lindsey. Apparently #ArtificialIntelligence discussion apps are a thing. That’s right. They can have discussions with digitally created avatars. Well, they are a thing your school age kids aren’t mature enough to handle because online predators have figured out how to manipulate them so check your kids phones and delete the Talkie app if you find it there. American children already have phone addiction and will spend more time interacting online than talking to their fellow humans in their presence each day so counter this immediately! In general, parents, do a better job of checking your kids social media posts and comments, texting streams and the apps they have to see what you need to delete. And become familiar with the parent controls. Your kid doesn’t need the most advanced phone and features just because all the kids are doing it.
